Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series Rolls to Wartburg June 21 and I-75 June 22

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (June 16, 2019) – The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com will be in action in a double-header of competition in the Volunteer State of Tennessee this coming weekend as the tour will make its first-ever visit to Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN for the Donald “Ducky” Jones on Friday June 21 for $3,000 to win and conclude the weekend on Saturday June 22 at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN for $4,000 to win.

The events at both tracks were originally scheduled for Friday June 7 and Saturday June 8, but inclement weather in much of the East Tennessee region forced the postponement of both events to this upcoming weekend.

The tour will make its first-ever visit to Wartburg Speedway in Wartburg, TN on Friday June 21 for the Donald “Ducky” Jones Memorial contest that will see the Iron-Man Late Model Series competitors featured in a 40 lap, $3,000 to win/$300 to start main event. Also, in competition at Wartburg Speedway on Friday June 21 will be the track’s Sportsman ($700 to win), Pony ($400 to win), Thunder ($400 to win), Front Wheel Drive ($400 to win), and Dwarfs ($400 to win). This will also mark the first Super Late Model event to be contested at Wartburg Speedway in six seasons. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m., with the drivers meeting set for 7:45 p.m., with practice set for 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the June 21 event at Wartburg Speedway in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 7 to 12 $5, and children under age 6 free. In tier parking, it will be $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 7 to 12, with ages 6 and under free. A pit pass will be $35 for adults, $15 for children ages 7 to 12, with children ages 6 and under free.

The weekend will conclude on Saturday June 22 as Iron-Man Late Model Series competitors will visit the I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN for a 40 lap, $4,000 to win/$400 to start main event, along with other local divisions in action as well. This will be the tour’s third visit to I-75 Raceway, with previous series winners at the track being Kenny Collins (2017) and Daniel Miller (2018). Other divisions in action at I-75 Raceway on June 22 will be the track’s A-Hobby, B-Hobby, Sportsman, B-Sportsman, Thunder, Four Cylinders, and Front Wheel Drives. Pit gates will open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area opening at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:45 p.m., with practice starting at 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the June 22 event at I-75 Raceway in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, $20 for adults in tier parking, and a pit pass will be $35.

The tire rule for the Super Late Models for both events will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600; American Racer 48 and 56. The 29.0 size tires will NOT be allowed on the left rear of the race cars. The series Droop Rule WILL be in effect at both of these events. The entry fee for each event is $100 and any driver not making the 22-car starting field each night will receive $50 tow money. In addition, there will be a $200 engine bonus for the highest feature-finishing All Steel engine in competition at both events (driver must finish the feature to be eligible for the bonus).

Joseph Faulkner of Fayetteville, TN and Robby Moses of Maryville, TN are currently tied for the series points lead heading into this weekend’s events. Defending series champion Joey Standridge of Tellico Plains, TN is third in points, while Casey Turman of Lafayette, GA sits fourth in series points, as the top four drivers in tour points are separated by only 52 markers coming into this weekend’s action. In addition, there have been three different winners in the three previously contested events with the series so far in 2019.
