ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL padded his National point lead in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 12 action with his fourth Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL driving the Morgan Machine Special.

Riddle has 432 points to sit at the top of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National standings after four wins and 11 top five finishes in 11 races over nine weeks. Riddle has a 20 point lead over the defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Champion Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN.

Gillespie drove the Rounder’s Sports Bar and Grill Special to a second-place finish on Saturday night in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman event at Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN. Gillespie has 412 points after four wins, nine top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 12 races over nine weeks.

Johnston’s best point finish was a fourth-place effort on Saturday night at Thunderhill Raceway driving the Johnston Racing Special. Johnston has seven top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in 13 races over nine weeks.

David Nichols of Hodges, AL is fourth in the Modified Sportsman National standings with 373 points. Nichols had a fifth-place finish in Week 12 action on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in the Nichols Racing Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Nichols has five top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in nine races over nine weeks.

Ron Bailey of Meridianville, AL is fifth in the National standings with 366 points. Bailey had a 38-point third-place showing on Friday night at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL driving the John’s Auto Repair Special. Bailey has seven top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 13 races over nine weeks.

John Smartt of Manchester, TN opened the Week 12 competition with his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL driving the Front Line Race Cars Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Brent Smith of Rutherfordton, TN took his third wins of the season on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN in the Finish Line Auto Body Special.

Chris Yarbrough of Eastaboga, AL drove the United Maintenance Special to his third Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Late Model driver Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN won his first time out in a Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman machine on Saturday night at Thunderhill Raceway.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National points at the end of the season will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
