ADAIRSVILLE, GA - Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL stayed in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National Championship hunt with his sixth win of 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season on Sunday at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. Mitchell is second in the National standings with 474 points.

Mitchell is 53 points behind the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point leader Morgen Lambert of Booneville, AL. Mitchell has six wins, ten top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 14 races over ten weeks of competition in the Sparks Energy Rocket.

Lambert has 527 points after one win, eight top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 15 racers over 12 weeks. Lambert has two more weeks to earn full points and Mitchell has four more weeks to earn full points. Lambert drove the Rae Trucking Special to a 17th-place finish on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.

Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL is third in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with 468 points. Wallace has two wins, nine top five finishes, and 11 top ten finishes in 14 races over ten weeks of competition. Wallace finished sixth on Sunday at North Alabama Speedway driving the Toyota of the Shoals Special.

Victoria Purcell of Bremen, AL is fourth in the Late Model Sportsman standings with 431 points after one top five finish and seven top ten finishes in 14 events over ten weeks of racing. Purcell finished 19th on Saturday night in Week 14 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division action at Magnolia Motor Speedway.

Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fifth in the Durrence Layne Late Model Sportsman Division standings with 427 points. Ray has two wins, eight top five finishes, nine top ten finishes in 12 races over nine weeks of competition. Ray drove the Shoals Heating and Air TNT to a fifth-place finish on Sunday at North Alabama Speedway.

In other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 14 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action, Dakota Berry of Huntington, TN drove the 22 Auto Salvage Special to a 40-point win on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. Michael Santangelo of Harahan, LA took a 40-point win on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Santangelo Racing Special.

Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS topped a 27-car field on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the McDevitt Enterprises GRT. Taylor Jarvis was the winner Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL. The Saturday night Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division race at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL was rained out.
