ADAIRSVILLE, GA - Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL used a Week 6 Make-Up Race win on Friday night and a 41-point Week 15 finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL to take over the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point lead driving the Sparks Energy Rocket.
Early season point leader Morgen Lambert of Booneville, MS drove the Rae Trucking Special to a fourth-place finish on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway in the Week 6 Make-Up Race, but did not compete in Week 15 action. Mitchell has 565 points at the top of the points list and Lambert has 532 points. Both drivers have two more weeks to earn full points.
Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.
A drivers best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point finish each week as their total for that week.
The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL turned in a ninth-place finish on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway in the Week 6 Make-Up Race and a fourth-place run in the Saturday night Week 15 race driving the Toyota of the Shoals Special to bring his season total up to 515 points and hold down the third spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings. Wallace still has three more weeks to earn full points.
Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with 473 points. Ray is another driver that took advantage of the Week 6 Make-Up Race at North Alabama Speedway on Friday night with a fifth-place finish, and a 41-point finish on Saturday night in the Shoals Heating and Air TNT. Victoria Purcell of Bremen, AL turned in a 41-point finish on Wednesday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Anderson Trucking Special to bring her point total up to 472 points and hold the fifth spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings. Purcell still has three more weeks to earn full points.

King is 15th in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with 387 points, but he has the highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) among the Top 20 in the standings at 48.38 out of a possible 50, and he has six more weeks to earn full points.
