DURRENCE LAYNE CHEVROLET LATE MODEL DIVISION WEEK 16 PREVIEW
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The battle for the $10,000 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Weekly Racing Series National Championship continues with Week 16 action in the 27-week season this weekend. Just five points separate the top three drivers with ten races on the Week 16 schedule of events.
Two races will be held on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and at Moulton Speedway in Moulton, AL. Eight races will be held on Saturday night, with two of those races paying $1,000-to-win.
Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will pay the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Models $1,000-to-win on Saturday night, and Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN will also pay $1,000-to-win this Saturday night.
Other Saturday night Week 16 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division events will be held at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS leads Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS by two points in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point standings. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is third in the points chase, just five points out of first place. Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL is fourth, five points behind Scarbrough, and Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg Speedway rounds out the top five.
Cameron, Russell, and Scarbrough each have two more weeks to earn full points, while Mitchell and Jarrell have three more weeks to earn full points before reaching the 14-week week mark of their respective seasons.
Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.
A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.
The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a $10,000 point fund check and a trophy.
