ADAIRSVILLE, GA - Week 16 competition for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division will feature eight races over two nights. There will also be a pair of $1,000-to-win races on the schedule for Saturday night. The lone Friday night race will take place at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL.
ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL will present the $1,000-to-win Buddy Davidson Memorial Race for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division on Saturday night. At Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN on Saturday night, it’s the $1,000-to-win Back The Blue Sheriff Tommy Hickerson Memorial Race.
Other Saturday night Week 16 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division races will be held at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is the new Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point leader. Mitchell has a 33-point leader over Morgen Lambert of Booneville, MS. Both Mitchell and Lambert have two more weeks to earn full points before hitting the 14-week mark of their respective seasons.
Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.
A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point finish each week as their total for that week.
The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL is third in the National Championship Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division battle, as he has three more weeks to earn full points. Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth in the standings and he also has National Championship hopes with four more weeks to earn full points. Victoria Purcell of Bremen, AL rounds out the top five in the standings.
