Kyle Strickler Streaks to Bobby Carrier Sr. Memorial Win at The Pond
Ready For Busy Two-Week Stretch with the Southern Nationals

Hazard, Kentucky (07/15/19) – Kyle Strickler made a return visit to Victory Lane over the weekend in his Big Blue Smoke House No. 8 Wells & Sons Motorsports/ Wehrs Machine/ Longhorn Race Car/ Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The latest conquest for the Pennsylvania native came on Friday night at Ponderosa Speedway during the $5,000-to-win, Bobby Carrier Sr. Memorial.

“Friday night was another outstanding night for the Wells & Sons Motorsports team,” Strickler said. “The car was an absolute dream to drive, and it’s always great to win at Ponderosa because it’s close to the shop. To win in just my third race there is pretty cool too.

“On Saturday and Sunday in the Southern Nationals races we had a good car, but just had to battle some bad luck. We’ve made the decision to go ahead and run the full Southern Nationals schedule, so hopefully we can win races and make a run at the championship.”

On Friday evening Kyle Strickler returned to Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Kentucky) for the Bobby Carrier Sr. Memorial. With 21 Super Late Model competitors on hand, Strickler raced into the opening night feature with a heat race victory.

Starting in the third, Kyle overtook Neil Baggett for the lead on the seventh lap and set a comfortable pace throughout the remaining distance to capture his fifth win of the season and a $5,000 payday. Jason Jameson, Tanner English, Victor Lee, and Josh Rice trailed him to the checkers.

The following night brought Strickler to Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Virginia) for the 2019 Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals opener. In a field of 30 cars, Kyle finished fourth in his heat, which positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the feature. He wheeled his way into the Top 5, but eventually retired early from the 53-lapper due to mechanical issues.

On Sunday evening at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina), Strickler started the night off with a 10-lap heat race victory locking his spot into the $10,000-to-win, Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals feature. After bringing out the first caution of the race on the sixth lap, Kyle charged from the tail of the field to cross the finish line in sixth.
