R.J. Conley Cashes In at Portsmouth Raceway Park for Second Win of 2019!

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) R.J. Conley, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, claimed his second feature win of 2019 on Saturday evening, July 13 in a "Christmas in July" show at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! R.J. swept the night, as he earned Fast Time honors in qualifying, won his heat race, and later led flag-to-flag in the main event. He beat Brandon Fouts, Shannon Thornsberry, Audie Swartz, and Ron Hinds II to the checkered flag to bag the $2,000 top prize. His son J.T. Conley was also in action at PRP and ran fourth in his heat race prior to vaulting up inside of the top five in the feature before settling for a solid sixth place showing.

Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Delmas Conley wound up at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio on Saturday night, July 13 for a similar weekly show, which also boasted a $2,000 winner's check. Delmas laid down the quickest lap overall during qualifying and ran second in his heat race. Unfortunately, the patriarch of the racing Conley family was ran off the track during the feature and was an early retiree, as Delmas was paid for an eighteenth place performance. Full results from both southern Ohio facilities can be viewed online at www.atomicspeedway.net and www.portsraceway.com.

With R.J. and J.T. Conley sitting idle for a family wedding this weekend, only Delmas and Rod Conley are slated to be in Super Late Model competition on July 19-20. Delmas will make the short trek to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday for a $2,000 to win weekly show. “Hot Rod” – on the other hand – is scheduled to venture south to Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky for the annual running of the ‘Butch Shay Memorial.’ The Mid-Ohio Valley Ultimate Super Late Model Series will preside over the doubleheader in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, which will pay $3,000 to the winner on Friday and will feature a $5,000 paycheck on Saturday.
