ADAIRSVILLE, GA – There are five Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division races on the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 17 schedule of events with one race on Friday night and four races on Saturday night. All drivers are still trying to reach the 14-week mark of their respective seasons.

Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN will host the biggest race on the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Week 17 schedule this Friday night with the $1,000-to-win Back The Blue Sheriff Tommy Hickerson Memorial Race. Saturday night races will take place at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN will present Double Features this Saturday night for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. The first feature race will be a Week 15 Make-Up Race, and the second feature race will be the regularly scheduled Week 17 event.

Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point leader with 580 points. Riddle has a nine point lead over the defending Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Champion Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN. David Nichols of Hodges, AL is third with 508 points, Ron Bailey of Meridianville, AL is fourth with 484 points, and Seth Johnston of Santa Fe, TN is fifth with 483 points.

Riddle and Gillespie are one-two respectively on the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division Weekly Point Average (WPA) List. Riddle has a WPA at 48.33 out of a possible 50, and Gillespie has a WPA of 47.58. Riddle, Gillespie, Nichols, Bailey and Johnston all have two more weeks to earn full points before hitting the 14-week mark of their respective seasons.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point finish each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
