ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Week 18 of the 27-week 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season will set up the stretch drive for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division $10,000 National Championship. This Friday night and Saturday night, drivers will begin reaching or getting close to the 14-week mark of their respective seasons.

There are 11 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races on the Week 18 schedule of events in four different states, with two races on Friday night, and nine races on Saturday night. Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and the Kansas State Fair Speedway in Hutchinson, KS will be in action on Friday night.

The Kansas State Fair Speedway race will be co-sanctioned with the NCRA, and is the first of two races at the Kansas track on the Week 18 schedule of events. The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division/NCRA second event at the Kansas State Fair Speedway will take place on Saturday night.

Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN will also host Saturday night Late Model events.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy, with the National Champion pocketing $10,000.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is the new Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point leader, with Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS in the second spot. Just four points separate the top two drivers in the standings, as they will be racing in their last week to earn full points. Scarbrough has 607 points and Cameron has 603 points.

Braden Mitchell of Russellville, MS is third in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National standings with 582 points, and Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth with 574 points. Both Mitchell and Jarrell have two more weeks to earn full points. Matthew Brocato of Muscle Shoals, AL rounds out the Top 5 with 571 points and one more week to earn full points.
