ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Week 19 of the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series will see two drivers in the top three of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division trying to net points on their top 14 weekly point totals, while all other drivers will be racing for full points. Week 19 will see seven races on the schedule of events this Friday night and Saturday night.

Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS will be in action this Friday night, and North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL will host a special Friday show that will be a Week 16 Make-Up Race. Drivers can earn points for Week 16, or if they have already earned points for Week 16, they can try to improve on those totals.

Saturday night Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 19 races will be held at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, North Alabama Speedway, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point leader coming into Week 19 competition. Mitchell has a best 14-week total of 664 points, and he will be trying to net on a 41. If Mitchell can get a 50-point win, he can gain nine points on his best 14-week point total.

Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL is second in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with 606 points. Wallace still has one more week to earn full points, so if he can get a 50-point victory, his 14-week total will be 656 points.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point finish each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.

Brian Murray of Russellville, AL is third in the National Late Model Sportsman standings with a best 14-week total of 596 points. Murray will be trying to net on a 40 in Week 14 competition. Morgen Lambert of Booneville, AL is fourth in the standings with 577 points with one more week to earn full points. Heather Lowe of Warrior, AL is fifth with 563 points and one more week to earn full points.

We’re about to embark on the portion of the season where as drivers begin to reach the 14-week mark of their respective seasons, drivers outside the top ten in points begin to make big moves. Drivers will seem to come from out of nowhere and into National Championship contention. There are four drivers in the second ten of the point standings that still have four weeks to earn full points.
