Not to be mean. I think it's a cool event; but I've got a few friends calling it the "Phoney Million" and "FAKE MILLION" .

Wonder if Madden will win this race too. 4 weeks in a row on this streak would be impressive for any type of motorsports.

Maddens car is currently much better than the competition. He has to be the favorite.

Need to send in some money so they can pay out a big purse then the hype will pick up at your expense.

I went on record before the 1st one last year stating the biggest purse would be year one, and any years after would continue to drop in donations/interest.

I think the hype wore off but accomplished its purpose. Attention getter at the highest> I don't think any of us thought it would pay that after seeing the guide lines. But is still a big deal.

Answer the question on Madden winning. Most likely if the Bloomer cars run good there. There is always a chance they won't be quite as dominate. If i remember, Bloomers car was not dominate last year like it is at most tracks. I think what Madden has done shows what good drivers can do with great cars. However, I hope this race is a little more entertaining up front.

We will be there mid day Thursday, working on the local #36 car of Matt Irey. We are camping in the pits and will be around his hauler all weekend. His race shop is just a few miles up the road so probably end up there as well throughout the weekend.

Stop by and say "Hello"!

Yes, if you took the time to research. A casual fan saw a "million dollar race" on the Lucas schedule and thought it was the second coming of Earl Baltes's show.

So what? The guy took a shot at it it didn't reach a million still had a huge turn out and besides it not being a million to win had a better payout down the line for the other guys. Its not worth the argument. I know a older gentleman that's in his 70s and got confused on the title of the race. This guy visits probably 20 races a year, and doesn't keep up everything else that goes on in the sport. That would be my definition of a casual fan, but what do I know?

Then the public schools that they attended failed miserably at teaching reading comprehension because there is absolutely no reason to be confused when everything has always been spelled out on the website. Any "casual" fan who is that clueless probably never travels to any tracks further than an hour away and is likely completely oblivious to the Earl's Million as well.

Taking the name too literally again, so if you win the World 100? What does that mean it's just a race in Ohio. It's still the highest paying race by far for the year. What do you care if it pays a million or not are you getting a cut of the purse?

Enjoy the event & be thankful we have it regardless of the name. We have the World 100, Dirt Track World Championship & the World Finals and I doubt any drivers other than Weiss & Stubber are from outside the United States! It just seems a lot of people have been negative toward this event since the announcement last year. Why get all wadded up over the naming- & “no” if one can read it is not falsely promoted. Just my thoughts that’s all.

Steve Smith received 50k for finishing 2nd to Donnie Moran at Eldora’s Million. J.B. Hunt was the major $$ man behind that event. Cody probably won’t return next year with Mansfield Raceway-who knows? There could be another J.B. Hunt out there somewhere looking to unload 1/2 million $$- lol!
If it doesn’t come back next year-the same folks will be complaining that it was a fluke. I was there last year & was entertained by racing. Will be there tomorrow & I hope for the same this year!
If it doesn’t return -I can at least say I attended all of them just like the Colossal at Charlotte.
Enjoy it while we can- there are no guarantees for tomorrow!!

8th-4,750

Devin Moran took home over 4K last year at Mansfield & only ran 7 laps.
Eldora’s purse was 950k seperate good 1st & 2nd. Eldora made history with that race & will probably never be duplicated.
Let’s enjoy the history & embrace the future !!

My point was many races and series have upped their pay in some form or another this year and i believe alot of that was stimulated by the "million" quite a few purses increased this year weather it was this years actual or announcements of increases for next year. In my opinion if the million did nothing more than stir the pot a little bit it was a success

It's already been stated that the inside wall is being removed and new clay is being brought in from down south. But you're just going to write it off even though they have identified the issues and are trying to fix them? It doesn't make any sense to me why you people want all of the tracks to fail. And if you judge tracks based on the food and how they park the merch trailers then your priorities are all mixed up. Last edited by GEAR_HEAD; 08-27-2018 at 07:29 PM. " Now mister know it all please tell us where they bought all that southern clay at! they did sift the dirt and brought in some new local dirt so I hope this works well for them. The infield looks so much bigger now that the wall is gone doesn't it? If you want to be the guy that's first with the breaking news maybe you should rely more on factual information.
