R.J. Conley Runner-Up in Ike Moler Memorial; Rod Conley Bolts to Fourth at PRP

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) found themselves at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, Ohio and Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on August 16-17 for a pair of unsanctioned special events. At Moler on Friday night in the annual 'Ike Moler Memorial,' R.J. Conley turned in the best performance, as he timed in second fastest overall in qualifying, placed second in the fast dash, and later earned an impressive runner-up effort in the $5,000 to win headliner after slipping back to as far as sixth in the running order early in the 50-lapper. When the checkered flag waved over the field, R.J. found himself trailing only victor Steve Casebolt. Rod and J.T. Conley were also in the pit area at Moler, but mechanical issues for both drivers cost them a chance to advance into the 'Ike Moler Memorial.'

At Portsmouth on Saturday evening, the 25th and final 'Fred Dillow Memorial' was on tap and a $6,083 top prize and several lucrative bonuses were on the line. Rod wound up with the best finish for the Wheelersburg, Ohio-based Super Late Model team, as he won his heat race in preliminary action before streaking past a trio of competitors in the 40-lap main event to garner a strong fourth place showing behind only race winner Steve Casebolt, Devin Gilpin, and Brandon Fouts.

Hall of Famer Delmas Conley was unfortunately spun while leading his heat race, took the victory in the B-Main, and later blasted past eleven cars in the A-Main to salvage a sixth place finish. J.T. ran fourth in his heat race and thirteenth in the feature, while his dad R.J. finished second in the dash and was running second early in the headliner when motor issues dropped him to a disappointing eighteenth place outing. Full results from both of these races can be accessed online at www.thenewmrp.com and www.portsraceway.com.

All four CMI drivers are once again scheduled to converge on Portsmouth Raceway Park this Saturday, August 24. A weekly Super Late Model program is on tap at the Portsmouth, Ohio facility and Delmas, Rod, R.J., and J.T. Conley will all vie for the $2,000 winner’s check.
