I went 3 times to West Plains for the Show Me. '96 was great when Clint Smith passed Moyer and Bloumquist in the same turn for the lead,but it got called back due to a caution. In '97,it rained like crazy but they didn't postpone it until way after they should've. Ran it on Sunday during the day so it was a choo-choo,but most day races are. Went in 2001,and it was a freight train again.

The Dome deal has had to make money, but if he gets relaxed he will lose admissions and the bill for that is huge.

Now he's bought into Bloomers team in some way or another.

Folks said he could be the next Earl (with some doubters); but with what we've seen I think many more folks are starting to think more like a JD Stacy. It does seem more likely the money could dry up and like those before Cody disappears as quickly as he came.

Still, the lockdown track didn't allow for any strategy whatsoever.
Idk if anyone saw JD try to make a run high on restart and literally lost 4 spots in one lap.
He never went high again and stayed 7th last 40+ laps.

I dont him to fail. I just want him to appropriately and fairly name and promote his events. I want him to succeed in those efforts, because we need the racetracks and the events.

Having a blast or not, if people give their hard earned money to support a big race called the "Dirt Million", don't you kinda have an obligation to deliver a race worthy of such a fake name?

Reminds me of the last time they held the dtwc at atomic a few years ago. The promoter knew it was a sinking ship, and just let everyone race on probably the worst racing surface I've ever witnessed in person.

I'm glad I didn't make the 4 hour hike north to watch that mess.

The name don't matter to me will it ever reach the million dollar purse more then likely not and to me that's ok. I will agree that big race it's self was bad and it should have been alot better with out a doubt. Can it be fixed? Yes will it?? That's the million dollar question

I guess I don’t get why the name matters at all. Why is it called the dream? Or the world? Why is it called the north south? Who cares! It’s a dirt track race. Instead on constantly complaining about the name, support the sport, go to the race, but the pay per view, something.

What if someone wants to have a race and call it the George Washington race but it pays more than $1.00, is that good or bad?

I just don’t get all the whining about a simple race name.

Fwiw, I will agree, this year some things were pretty lax and the racing tonight could have been better, but I’ve seen choo choo races at Eldora, DTWC at every track I’ve been to (4 or 5), local tracks, etc. it happens, not the end of the world, and can be improved.

Let’s just hope we don’t lose another track, one that the facilities are actually far superior to most.

The thing is, crappy racing is the norm anymore, I am not foolish enough to say at least we have racing, and we should support garbage. I spent 40 dollars of my hard earned money for crap tonight. if this trend continues, we will see two traveling series with 10 -12 cars and maybe 15 cars per race.

Reminds me of going to Pennsboro in 1992. The same crap was said about the track and the racing. Yet we all couldn't wait to get back. The only things new about this conversation is PPV, and the debate about the race's name.

You would have thought they would have brought somebody in that new how to work a track the heat races I saw on Thursday were terrible as long as they had to work on a track it should have been perfect it's not like they are racing ever week.

After lap 40 you could've probably inverted the top 15 and that's where they would've finished.

At what point in the race was that? When he got passed by Junghans and Marlar, or when he got passed by Owens and Weiss? Sheppard had the fastest car. Scott was not within a 1/2 second of Sheppys fast lap.

I was not at the track, but reading what everyone had to say, reminds me of what I have seen other places. first the track was over watered. someone wrote that it was going to take a while to run the track in. drivers look for the fasted way around and eventually narrow the track from three wide, to two wide , to one lane. that is the fastest way around. I'd say that over watering is the biggest cause of locked down tracks.

I enjoyed everything about my 4 day trip except the racing. Worst big race I’ve went to since the DTWC at Bardstown. I could name countless things about this event that went wrong. Total Cluster ****, period. I’ve came, I’ve supported, I’m out. If there’s a 3rd installment, I’ll catch it the day after on DoD. ....See yall at the Hillbilly.

Im not one to bash any track but if he plans on coming back a third year or more he certainly didn't show that to any of the fans and campers that supported him the first two years and that is the large majority of attendees at these larger two and three day events. Last year they had spot a johns all through out the camping area this year nothing not a huge deal but still less. They didn't clean the stands at all through the whole weekend didn't pick up trash or blow the dust off the seats. Every other trash can was overfilled all weekend. While i feel you should clean up after yourself that just doesn't happen at these events. And if you asked for a little ice to keep their barley cold beer cool they agreed like you just cut them off in traffic or something. I've seen eldora run a make up early and a full show that evening and they throw everybody out after the first one clean the stands and work the track all in about two hours. While these aren't major things it shows a major lack of respect for the people who really make this event possible the fans. Track prep that's a whole other rant lol. It's ashame because it's a really nice place with alot of potential. Overall i still had a good time meet some good people and supported the sport i love but i don't think we will be back if their is a year three

You probably noticed the car was much better in the feature. Found a problem with the birdcage mounting. First time to complete 100 laps. Enjoyed meeting you & your dad.

Hey, Cody tried...I'll give him credit for the awesome purse and attempt at creating a new top event to attend.
In the end, it just didn't work out.
I've heard from at least a dozen different people and all of them said the same thing about the trash overflowing, the stands covered in dirt and trash all weekend, fewer bathroom options, short on ice, dusty, then not dusty and a single file race with no track prepping, etc, etc..

Personally, would be quite stunned if there is a year 3 at Mansfield.

Heard a rumor from a couple Mansfield friends that there is someone seriously interested in buying the speedway & running it as a race track. Hope this is true.
