ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Week 23 of the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season is going to be a busy one for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division. There are ten races over three days during the Labor Day Holiday Weekend with three Make-Up Feature Races.

The Week 23 action for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division begins on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN. The North Alabama Speedway event is a Week 22 Make-Up Race, and the Thunderhill Raceway event is a Week 1 Make-Up Race.

Both North Alabama Speedway and Thunderhill Raceway will return on Saturday night with their regularly scheduled Week 23 races. Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS will run Double Features on Saturday night. The first JMS race will be a Week 22 Make-Up Race, and the second feature will be the Week 23 event. 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS will be in action with a race co-sanctioned with NCRA.

The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Week 23 action continues on Sunday night with races scheduled for Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

Durrence Layne Racing officials have announced they are extending the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series two weeks due to an excessive number of rainouts during the 27-week season that began the last weekend of March and was scheduled to end on September 29. Now, the season will run through October 13.

The deadline for tracks to run Double Features to make up any rainouts during the first 25 weeks of the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season will be extended one week to September 22, or by the end of Week 26.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point leader going into Week 23 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series competition. Lee has a best 14-week total of 689 points, and he will be trying to net on a 47.

Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL and Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS are tied for the second spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 680 points. Mitchell will be trying to net on a 46, and Scarbrough will be trying to net on a 45.

Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with a best 14-week total of 668 points and he will be trying to net on a 45. Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS is fifth with a best 14-week total of 667 points, and he will be trying to net on a 43.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy, with the National Champion pocketing $10,000.
