Austin Horton Claims Alabama State Championship Super Late Model Win
Finishes Second in NLMSCS Finale at EAMS

Newnan, Georgia (09/23/19) – Austin Horton pushed his 2019-win total to six over the weekend by topping the Super Late Model portion of the 47th annual Alabama State Championship in his Vape’s Gone Wild No. 16 Wood Motorsports/ Orr’s Towing/ Super K Express/ XR1 Rocket Chassis by Clint Smith/ Clements Race Engine Super Late Model.

He added a runner-up finish in the weekend’s National Late Model Super Car Series (NLMSCS event).

“We had a pair of great hot rods all weekend and earned the pole for both features. We had the perfect setup on my Super Late Model and got the win. Unfortunately, we went the wrong way on tires in the National Late Model Series event, and it killed our chances at the win, but we still got second,” Horton noted. “It was another great weekend for our team. I want to say a very special thanks to everyone, who helps us out.”

Austin Horton made the trek to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama) over the weekend for the 47th annual Alabama State Championship. With 26 Super Late Models on hand for the two-day event, Horton locked his spot into Sunday night’s $5,000-to-win A-Main with the fourth fastest lap in his time trial group. In a field of 20 National Late Model Super Car Series (NLMSCS) entries, Horton secured his spot into the main event with the fastest lap in his time trial group.

Outrunning Dalton Cook in the 47-lap feature on Sunday night, Horton soared to his sixth win of the season in the feature over Cook, Joseph Brown, Parker Martin, and Kenny Collins.

With $5,000 on the line in the NLMSCS sanctioned feature, Horton notched a second-place finish behind Mark Whitener with Rodney Martin, Joseph Brown, and Kenny Collins trailing them to the checkers.
