ADAIRSVILLE, GA – After clinching the $10,000 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National Championship after Week 26 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series competition, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS put the icing on the cake in Week 27 action last Saturday night by driving the Billy Riels Racing Special to his 14th win of the season at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.

Lee will now have the final two weeks of the season to try for one more win to have a 700 point Perfect Season. This week we combine the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 27 Round Up and the Week 28 Preview. Complete results of Week 27 action are listed below, along with the Week 28 and the Week 29 schedule of events.

Lee has a best 14-week total of 699 points going into Week 28 action and will be looking to net on a 49 to reach the 700 point mark of his season. Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL is second in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National standings with a best 14-week total of 691 points. Mitchell will be trying to net on a 48.

Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS and Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS are tied for the third spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point standings. Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS rounds out the Top 5 with a best 14-week total of 685 points and he will be trying to net on a 48.

In other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Week 27 action, Adam Ray of Smithland, KY drove the Three Rivers Boat and Barge Rocket to a 40-point win on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN. Christian Hanger of Winchester, TN was the winner on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN driving the Hanger Racing CVR.

Week 28 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races this Saturday night will be held at Camden Speedway, Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, and at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Looking ahead, the lone Week 29 race will be held at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS, and will be co-sanctioned with NCRA.

Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 29-week season that concludes on October 13.

A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.

The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy, with the National Champion Shannon Lee pocketing $10,000.
