Dennis Erb, Jr. Drives to Top Five in $100,000 Dirt Track World Championship!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. continued his 2019 campaign on October 18-19, as the #28 team traveled to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio to compete in the 39th Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again sanctioned the crown jewel extravaganza, which drew 66 competitors to the 3/8-mile oval to vie for the whopping $100,000 winner's check. On Friday night, Dennis stopped the clock second quickest in Group B during qualifying before placing fourth in his stacked heat race.

By virtue of racking up the sixth most points in his group during preliminary action, Dennis rolled off from the outside of the sixth row in Saturday's 100-lap headliner. During the course of the extra-distance affair, the Carpentersville, Illinois star steered his XR1 Rocket Chassis past seven competitors on his way to an impressive fifth place effort, which marked his best career DTWC showing in eleven feature starts. At the unfurling of the checkered flag, Dennis trailed only victor Brandon Sheppard, Mike Marlar, Tyler Erb, and Josh Richards! Full results from the DTWC weekend can be viewed by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

“It was a great run for our race team to finish inside of the top five in one of the sport’s biggest races,” quoted Erb, Jr. this week via telephone. “We qualified well, which was huge with the format that they used this year for that race. Then in the feature, our car worked really well right around the bottom of the racetrack and we were able to move up inside of the top five. Hopefully, we keep trending up as the season winds down and are able to finish off the year on a strong note!”

With today’s postponement of the annual ‘Fall Classic’ at Whynot (MS) Motorsports Park due to impending inclement weather, Dennis Erb Racing has made the decision to stay in the Land of Lincoln for a pair of unsanctioned events at Quincy Raceway in Quincy, Illinois on October 25-26. The inaugural running of the ‘Kenny Pratt Memorial’ will take place this upcoming weekend and a $2,000 top prize will be on the line in the weekend opener on Friday, while Saturday’s Super Late Model finale will boast a $5,000 payday.
