Jimmy Mars Wraps Up 2019 Campaign with Top Ten Showing in USRA Fall Nationals

(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars closed out his 2019 racing season in an Open Wheel Modified from October 25-27 at Vado Speedway Park in Vado, New Mexico. The 20th edition of the Rancho Milagro 'USRA Fall Nationals' took center stage over the weekend and a strong field of open wheel warriors showed up at the new 3/8-mile dirt oval to vie for the $20,101 payday.

During Friday's preliminary show, Jimmy secured a victory in his heat race from the seventh starting spot prior to steering his MB Customs mount to a strong third place podium effort in the feature behind only prelim victor Cade Dillard and runner-up Terry Phillips. By virtue of that finish, the Menomonie, Wisconsin ace earned the rights to the inside of the third row for the start of Sunday's 50-lap headliner. Jimmy then battled hard during the course of the 'USRA Fall Nationals' and eventually wound up seventh in the final finishing order of his season finale. Full results from Vado Speedway Park can be accessed online at www.vadospeedwaypark.com.

“It was a lot of fun to cap off our year running a Modified last weekend at Vado, which is a tremendous facility,” commented Mars this week via telephone. “We didn’t quite get the finish in the feature on Sunday that we wanted, but MB Customs cars finished first (Cade Dillard) and second (Rodney Sanders) so I can’t complain about that. I have to thank everyone that’s involved in my racing program from my great sponsors to everyone that works hard at the shop to my friends, family, and crew. We have a lot of new cars to build this off-season and there is a lot of work to be done before we start racing again in January at Vado and Queen Creek, but we are looking forward to it!”

With the book now closed on his 2019 campaign, the Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer can look back on what was a solid season. Jimmy entered fifty-two (52) races this year and amassed a total of three (3) wins, twenty-four (24) Top Five finishes, and thirty-one (31) Top Ten performances. Two of his victories came at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin, while his biggest triumph – the $5,555 ‘Duane Mahder 55’ – came at his hometown Red Cedar Speedway. Jimmy also put his best foot forward in some of the biggest races that he entered, as he ran second in the $15,000 to win ‘Illini 100’ finale at Farmer City (IL) Raceway, second in the $10,000 to win ‘Masters’ finale at Cedar Lake (WI) Speedway, third in the $10,000 to win ‘Gopher 50’ at Deer Creek (MN) Speedway, and fifth in the $14,000 to win ‘Wild West Shootout’ finale at Arizona Speedway.

The Mars Racing team will now take a little time off to refresh their equipment during the short off-season. Jimmy plans to unload his potent #28 Super Late Model for the first time in 2020 from January 3-5 at Vado Speedway Park in Vado, New Mexico. The 14th Annual ‘Wild West Shootout’ will then take place with six shows from January 11-19 at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Arizona. More information and a 2020 tentative schedule for the #28 team will be posted in the upcoming weeks at www.JimmyMarsRacing.com.
