Have not heard anything since Izzo bought it. I saw they have two races at Peoria next year. Anyone know of any other dates or news with the series?

Seeing Peoria two times on their schedule says maybe there are big changes are in store for the MARS series, maybe Izzo does know what he’s doing after all.

2 Races at Fairbury, 2 Races at Farmer City, 2 races at Peoria, 1 at Spoon River, and more coming. He even waved the sanctioning fee for the first year he owns the MARS series and gave tracks a break. From what he's told me; he has reached out to about 50 different tracks. Tony is not having races just for the sake of having them. He doesn't want to have a race at a track when there is another near by. He's turned down a few tracks with dates. Look for Brownstown (IN) and Tri-City (IL) to possibly be on the schedule along with a few others.

I was expecting to see a MARS race on the schedule for Plymouth. In typical Plymouth fashion, that was not the case.

Tony said the same think when I talk to him on Facebook yesterday. You'd swear they act like their crap don't stink. The 2 that put the schedule together are a couple of bone heads. After helping them with track prep for most of 2019 that's how they do things. If it doesn't involve sprint cars they don't care to much for it. That could be a good track if the race director with stop with her b.s. She's run a few drivers off with her mouth among other things. The racing there is good though.

Unlikely to happen, but I'd love to see them get 1 or 2 races in Wisconsin.

Hope Jacksonville, IL gets a race or two.

I’m glad to see them add a race at Shadyhill. That is the same date the WoO Late Models are at Tri-State. Probably won’t have many cars that would have to make a decision about which one to go to, but both shows are going to have to work to get a full field. I’m sure some of the crate cars from Shadyhill will help. Shadyhill is 40 minutes from me, but I’m going to Tri-State.

Fairbury has free admission on May 30th. That could hold the central IL travelers. Place was pretty packed for a regular night of racing last year. I will wait and see how the Mars tour is pulling in cars before I plan that weekend. Will they be that much stronger than a weekly FALS lineup? It would be a new track for me, so that will come into play.

FYI, I'm not saying SN or PDC packed, but admission was double a regular night in my guess. Like every regular brought a friend full.

HoosierDirtFan,

THANKS for all of the updates !!!

I think you will see about 18-20 races in Tony's first year.
Brownstown (IN), Tri-City, Thunder Valley (IN), Kankakee County (IL), Fayette County (IL), Highland (IL), Belle-Clair (IL), & and a few others possible.
Hope this new LS motor will take off and be a good motor that doesn't cost as much for local teams to utilize.
I think it could help local racing and seems to have a decent power band.
I don't believe it will be anything like a ct525 motor.
Might be a good bit better.
Guess will see over time.
Not sure who all is building them but I know Mullins was mentioned as one.

I've never been to East Moline, and now I could go four times this year. East Moline and Charleston are the only remaining active dirt tracks in Illinois I've yet to visit.

The May 17 race at East Moline comes on the heels of the Burlington-Farley-Deer Creek Lucas Oil races, thus making for an awesome 4 day stretch.

Pretty centralized to my neck of the woods so far. I'm looking forward to all of these shows.

I must have missed something about the LS engine though? A rule or option? I don't think there are enough of them out there yet for them to be affordable. If you look at some of the drag racing versions, they can be pretty pricey!

Wonder which drivers are potentials to follow the full series. There are a couple conflicting dates with major races, such as the USA Nationals at Cedar Lake. Here is some I am hoping will follow most of it:

Frank Heckenast Jr.
Mike Spatola
Rich Bell
Chris Simpson
Chad Simpson
Terry Phillips
Ryan Unzicker
Jason Feger
Gordy Gundaker
Shannon Babb
Tanner English

Has there been any mention of a points fund, or something similar? Without that, I don't know you'd get anyone to follow any series, other than for individual races.

I was considering it, but I'm not making headlines either way. I'd almost guarantee Rich Bell will, especially with the Ethanol series folding. We shall see...I wish them success!

I was wondering about a points fund as well. I would say if you can develop sponsors to give out 10k to the champion that would entice a few guys with only 15 races or so. Or possibly to provide some tow money to your top 8 in points.

Per MARS Facebook page:

"We are really excited at the response we have received from so many regarding the 2020 schedule. We also have received alot of questions regarding the tire rule and the complete payout for $3,000 and $5,000 to win races. All this information is posted at marsracingseries.com under driver info. You will notice we still have to post the $10,000 to win race payouts. The tire rule will be the offical tire rule at all events. We hope to post something soon regarding points fund, show up money, $10,000 to win payouts and etc. We are working on this everyday and will keep everyone posted as we have information to announce."
