Joe Godsey Scores First Win of 2020 in Australian Championship
Jeff Roth Records Top-10 Finish in Finale

Bentonville, Arkansas (01/13/20) – Roth Motorsports driver, Joe Godsey broke into Victory Lane for the first time in 2020 on Wednesday with a triumph at Perth Motorplex (Kwinana Beach, Western Australia).

The preliminary victory in the opening round of the Australian Late Model Championship came aboard his Waco Title No. 14G Car Busters/ Homes by Roth/ MacTrack/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Cornett Racing Engines Super Late Model.

“First, I’d like to thank Jeff Roth, Randy Roth, and Simon McNab for this amazing opportunity,” Godsey said. “I’d also like to thank Joshua Skelton, Paul Wittington, Gator, and my wife Abby for crewing for me.”

With a 40-car field being split into two separate groups, Joe laid down the third fastest time in his group before placing third and second in his heat races. Starting on the front row of his preliminary feature, Godsey blasted past Warren Oldfield for the lead on the opening lap and held the top spot comfortably until late when Brad Blake began closing in.

Holding off Blake’s late-race charge, Joe Godsey streaked to his first win of the season over Blake, Oldfield, Freddy Kinsella, and Kodee Brown.

Jeff Roth followed up the sixth fastest lap in his time trial group with a third and fourth-place finish in his two heats. Roth went on to record a 10th-place finish in his 20-lap feature.

For the second and final night of the Australian Late Model Championship on Saturday evening), Joe Godsey secured his spot into the finale with a fourth-place finish in his heat.

Roth posted an eighth-place finish in his heat which positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the Australian National Title. Passing one car in the 40-lap affair, Jeff recorded a 15th place outing.

Godsey ran in second early in the 40-lapper but fell back to a fourth-place finish behind Kye Blight, Craig Vosbergen, and Warren Oldfield with Ben Nicastri coming in 5th.

“My car was really good in the opening round,” Godsey added. “In the second round we just didn’t get through lapped traffic as well. Congratulations to Kye Blight and crew on the Championship. Two races down and two to go for the USA Invasion tour. I’m looking forward to Albany this weekend.”
