A good friend of mine texted me this morning, that a reporter on espn said that one of Ryans arms was badly mangled, and may need amputation. They obviously wouldn't confirm it and make it official.

If was great to see Ryan walking out of the Hospital. As for Chastain, he deserves a chance, he is a really talented racer. No one gave this kid anything and he has worked his butt off to get where he is. Maybe he will show some good ability and some competitive team might take a hard look at him when a seat comes open. IMO Ragan wanting to retire would not have been the right choice.

This hit was very similar to the one Dale Sr took in '96 at Talladega. It's reasonable to expect serious injuries from it.

A recent statement from Newman says that he is recovering from a head injury. I would call that a serious injury, even if he was able to walk out of the hospital.

I never heard Newman's serious injury was something progressives. Has his illnesses worsened since this last crash or was this last crash the onset of his CTE?
