There is no vaccination for COVID-19 yet. I'm not walking around with a mask on all day, but I'm making sure I don't take any unnecessary risks. Seems the Chinese lab working on viral and bacterial warfare is located in the same city that the c-19 virus started. Having said that though, I think tracks may be better off postponing due to the large numbers of people that will buy into the hysteria. The main reason you’re seeing preemptive closures (schools, government meetings, big concerts, NBA, NCAA, etc.) is to limit the potential for mass spread of the contagion. This thing seems to be mild to moderate in about 80% of cases so far. Meaning, there will be tons of people who feel kind of sh!tty but go to work/school/games/whatever anyway because they don’t feel terrible. Then they get a bunch of people sick in the process, many of whom travel to some other place where no one has it. It’s epidemiology 101. The bigger fear is that this thing mutates I to something more virulent and we still don’t have a vaccine. Google Spanish flu if you want to read about something more virulent and what that’d look like. The bottom line is people need to take smart precautions, and avoid big crowds.

Yes I listened to a health official last night on facebook that said what your saying. He said there is no vaccine and people haven't built an immunity to this virus like they have the flu. What you described is anything but the common flu. It's a strain more like MERS. MERS has a fatality rate between 30%-40%. Neither MERS or what you describe is what people think of when they think about needing a flu shot for the coming flu season.

My point was the "common" flu that everyone thinks of every winter has a mortality rate of 0.1%. Covid-19 is currently at 3.4% and even if it drops down to 1% like Dr. Fauci estimates, that's still 10 times as deadly as the regular flu.

By the way, none of this is a reason to stockpile toilet paper. The flu is not likely to cause explosive diarrhea, and most toilet paper is made in the US, so there shouldn't be a supply chain issue unless people just quit going to work at the TP factory.

I expect I’ll trust the opinions of doctors who specialize in epidemiology. They’ve been studying this stuff for years, and the guy I linked to has served literally the past 5 Presidential Administrations plus his state government. If folks like that expect it’s going to get a lot worse and urge caution, I tend to be cautious. It’s pure common sense.
