No track in Ohio has yet had any fans at a race. Let alone 30k. It's not happening. The announcement is a formality.

If it makes you feel better. Its not really an unknown.

golddirt

It is unknown, do I expect it to run in june? No. I want to know if it will be ran later in year or cancelled for 2020. What’s so difficult for you to understand that

Does the governor still have ohio locked down ? He's the problem. O u wants that stadium full come fall football. He could care less about eldora.

I think the long waiting announcement means 1 of 2 things.

1.) They have either found a way to have the dream on the scheduled date. Maybe PPV

or

2.) They're waiting until the very last second to cancel the event completely incase Ohio changes things quick.

In my opinion, if it was going to be ran later in the year, why wouldn't they just go ahead and announce a postponement until later in 2020?

raburke23
05-19-2020, 07:48 AM
Having this event as PPV only would be the worst case scenario. There is no way you can pay that giant 3 day purse with PPV audience. I am also one that hates watching races on TV and love the experience. This will most likely be rescheduled until October from everything I've been hearing here in Ohio.

Tony Stewart is worth over 50 millions dollars and has numerous corporate sponsors. If they had to eat a 300k for this it would not be the end of world. Eldora makes a ton of profit year after year. I would think he could find some sponsor help easily if needed.

I've been thinking the week after the DTWC (22nd - 24th) for a while now. Both national series are off that weekend. Lucas is done & WoO is off until World Finals. Just a hunch on my part.

I have my tickets & will be there whether it's 90 or 40 out. Been to every one since 07 & don't plan to miss.

You could be right, but if so, you're taking a huge chance with weather running it that late in the year. I can't imagine how cold it could be up there.

Just my opinion: October 22-24. Lucas is finished & WOO is off .
Heck- I am like everyone else- waiting on an announcement!

chathamracefan
05-19-2020, 08:47 AM
Pennsboro - no doubt a chance of cold weather. That time of year would allow for day racing if needed (or at least a late afternoon start) to have better temp conditions. Track won't burn up as fast in cooler weather vs the hot summer June sun.

Not an ideal situation, but better than nothing. Covered stands would help keep things warmer under the roof for a decent portion of the crowd as well.

The dirt late model worlds dream week!!

foxfire2dirtracing
05-19-2020, 09:39 AM
The only problem with having the Dream & world the same week would be with the camping reservations. Not everyone attends both races & different days for different folks who would be coming.
How would Eldora jungle the camper reservations to be able to keep peace with all campers?
FWIW: I don’t camp- & having nothing races the same week works for me- we check in on Monday prior to both races anyway.

t4g2

All races in June have been taken off sale. So for sure moving things back. They ran in October last year for a race. Yes it was pretty cold for camping.

I think they are just waiting it out to try to race on scheduled days. I got a pair of tickets yesterday just in case it’s a limited crowd event. I usually just buy when I show up but I would feel pretty stupid if I couldn’t go because I didn’t buy my tickets in advance.

Yep and they have also stopped selling tickets for the September .6 Baltes classic
but they are still selling tickets for the World September 10-12.

That leads me to think they might be thinking about having both shows together
(Dream & World ) instead of the Baltes.
if Ohio Gov. wont let them open in June.

That is why I was thinking the October weekend. Cause of the Lucas & WoO schedule. Of course everything is in flux this year but I'm sure they would want to clear a weekend of the major tour events before putting the Dream on that weekend.

That Lucas Schedule from I80 to the end of the year is just ridiculously stacked. Then throw in WoO with PDC and USA Nationals.

LM1M: I read same things you did till reread and my take is still "mass gatherings" 10 or more still no-no which kills live fan racing. I don't like other wording such as some threats to businesses but it is what is. It's truly time for normal hard working God fearing strong folks to stand up and make some noise, and no I'm not talking all the Facebook junkies. True hard working hard voting think their vote counts everytime kinda folks, in every state!!!

I'm starting to wonder if ANY major dirt late model event is going to take place this year.
If Eldora is willing to concede a race that has until October to get it in and we are only in May, there's a strong chance others will follow suit.

What weekend could they use? Is Lucas going to give up a 2-3 day shows? Is WoO going to cancel events just for the Dream? That's not fair to those tracks and fans.

There's a few weekends in October that would not effect either series. They ran in October last year. an I don't like the no refunds either. But it is what it is. I'm glad I didn't waste money on getting reserved.

You are assuming that they will be able to hold the World 100 in October, which may not be possible.

With that being said, hopefully there are no major outbreaks between now and then and it can be held (keeping fingers crossed).

The third week of October and Halloween are only open. Weather is iffy by then. Football and hunting dominate then.

Third weekend of October is a dirt track world championship

Pennsboro32
05-20-2020, 05:46 AM
There is only one weekend in October that would have worked and you’re gambling if you have it then. Weather in Ohio in mid to late October could be brutal. The year the World was rescheduled to earlier October was one cold weekend. 34 degrees Saturday morning watching hot laps and it didn’t get much warmer that day.

Unfortunately the writing is on the wall. If Major League Baseball can’t put fans in the stands, then DLM Crown Jewels are in serious jeopardy this season. It stinks, and I hate it just as much as anyone but at this point I’m not counting on much of a DLM 2020 season.

Meanwhile they get to sit back and make interest on all of the money for tickets and campsites until next years dream, why possibly someone that has been laid off that bought tickets could use that money for groceries. Even MLB baseball is giving fans the option for a refund.

Clayton, I don't like what's going on anymore than anyone else. But, if there is another outbreak, states are going to shut down tighter than a virgin at a graduation party. It won't surprise me if some tracks close because of this or some that are good money wise don't open at all this year. I know of a new track being refurbished that had plans on opening this year. Last I heard they pushed it out till 2021. That's spending a lot of cash and getting nothing in return.

Well that is good, people need to shut off the fake news!!

They are the ones stirring the pot about more outbreaks. And nobody knows if they will even happen.
