Tammy from Tri-City had a Facebook live this morning and she talks about the bickering going on among the IL tracks that have opened/not opened. If you have 30 minutes its a worthwhile listen, she is very professional throughout.

Haven't seen the vid yet. Will look later. Was actually coming here to post re: Illinois tracks. I noticed that the drag strip in Madison is having an event with 20% capacity attendance this coming Saturday. They are following the guidelines the IL Motorsports Coalition established. Also, Fayette County is running with fans Friday night (mods $2k to win). Wonder if the tracks have just decided to go it alone or they are all getting ready to at least have a small scale opening.

I saw something yesterday (facebook maybe), intimating that Macon & Lincoln may have a race this coming weekend. Sargent has been one of the leaders of the coalition which makes me wonder if all the tracks are getting ready to move ahead on it.

Many northern Illinoisans are going up to Wisconsin (including myself. Wilmot, Darlington, Slinger...). Illinois and the other states not running by now may not open this year at all, at this point.

I've been to Pevely 3 times in last month to watch races. Went to $5k late model show, outlaw sprints & USAC last night. Makes for some late nights but at least getting my fix.

Charleston Speedway has been racing the last few weeks. Not sure if them not having a liquor license matters or not as this track doesnt have one.

Peoria now opening Saturday.

Was just coming to update with Peoria opening as well. Gonna guess FALS and Farmer city will go by the following week. Jacksonville is gonna be tough cause they have a small seating capacity.

Ok, what does a liquor license have to do with re-opening?

Ok, what does a liquor license have to do with re-opening?

It's an easy revenue stream at a racetrack.Consider that a case of beer is usually paid for at a racetrack or bar in less than a third of the quantity ordered, and hard liquor paid for in ~ 3 or 4 pours of a fifth, and the rest of that is profit or use for other expenses.

With a liquor license and food permit the govenor has threatened to take suspend those that run without guidlines or approval to run. When you sign up for them you sign paperwork that says the licenses can be suspended for no reason just like most jobs now a days they can fire you for no reason. If the tracks dont have eithe of thoses then your concession sales are nothing. If its a track thats on a fair grounds like farmer city and fairbury is they can lose the federal funding they get to support the fair and such. Thats why charleston can race as they dont have much to lose. And yes you can go to court and win the case but thats just an added expense and your license/permit would be suspended til you went to court so its not really worth the risk. My uncle runs a bar/bowling center and hes allowed to open but cant sale food or liquor so whats the point of opening?

IRA Sprints this week and, they tell you bring your own pen to sign the covid 19 waiver.

That didn't work so well for Ace Speedway in NC - https://nascar.nbcsports.com/2020/06/09/roy-cooper-ace-speedway-covid-19-n-c-governor-declares-track-imminent-hazard-closes-track/?fbclid=IwAR0h-eq0v1im7iC06zS6VLQ0Ab0koTNrDhiSqdviLeUqwuKmQovk4Kx iIws

The state of North Carolina ordered Ace Speedway to be closed immediately, citing the track as an “imminent hazard for the spread of COVID-19” after it repeatedly violated his executive order against mass gatherings.

The order from the state prohibits Ace Speedway from operating in any form. The order also states that the track shall notify the public by 5 p.m. ET Tuesday that its upcoming races – the track’s next scheduled event is June 19 – will be canceled.

although I did like the sign

Ok, what does a liquor license have to do with re-opening?If the government tells you not to open and you open that will be the first thing they take

And if it's on a fairgrounds track they lose the funding they get from state and possibly from federal. An yes they can appeal that decision in win but while that process is going on the liquor licenses is suspended til the appeal.
