Listen to the guy doing late models at 34 Raceway tonight, this is how you call a race. I don’t know his name but the guy is a real pro, remember announcers you are not the show.

They are the show between on track action and rain delays/track maintenance

They are the show between on track action and rain delays/track maintenanceNobody pays to listen to an announcer, they pay to watch cars race.

His Twitter has changed that for me.

Judging by his tweets, he seems pretty hypocritical!

He seems fine with the shutdowns as he calls the races in the play booth?????????

People here throw the word bigot around like they actually are smart enough to know the definition and perceptive enough to know one when they see one.

I personally don't particularly like Gibson's announcing style but my opinion means as much to the WoO's as everyone else who posts here, which is zilch!

The finest track announcer in the country works one track only. His name is Scott Lee Daloisio.

I absolutely HATE announcers who yell and scream and they can enhance or detract from the spectator experience. If every time the announcer says something into the microphone it annoys some or all of the spectators it's really not to the advantage of the promoter to keep him or her around. That's what makes Daloisio as good as he is. He's not the least annoying, he's just very good.

a couple of announcers from eastern iowa I always enjoyed: Tom Lathen and Jerry Mackey...

Jeff Broeg was from eastern Ia and the best in his day. Does he still do any announcing?

Take your racist/political crap somewhere else.Sounds like you have not done your proper homework. What does covid response have to do with race? And as far as the other goes .. 5 minutes on google and you can figure out the other stuff has been hijacked for other purposes than those that are being portrayed. Facts over fiction.

Broeg does not do any regular announcing, but does fill in from time to time at various tracks. The announcer at 34 last night may have been ok for TV, but could barely be heard from the grandstands and did very little to acknowledge the reason this race exists.

Thank you. I remember Billy when he raced. He also was the announcer when my father was inducted to the Adams County Speedway Hall of Fame.

Glad to hear he is doing well and his talents are appreciated.

Precisely why I don't yell and scream. We are supposed to ADD to the show. Not detract from it

The best announcers are like the best referees. After the show is over, you should barely remember who they were. The show is on the track. Nothing else needs to be added. Just give us the necessary info and turn the mic off otherwise. If there’s downtime for some reason, play music, or prerecorded interviews.
