Weiss Charges to Podium Finish in Ralph Latham Memorial
World of Outlaws Tripleheader Up Next

HEADINGLEY, MANITOBA, Canada (08/19/20) – Ricky Weiss embarked on a four-day outing with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Florence Speedway in Union, Ky. over the weekend.

Wednesday’s 34th Annual Ralph Latham Memorial was the highlight of the weekend. The driver of the Drydene Performance Products No. 7 J&C Properties/ G-Style Transport/ Team Zero Race Cars/ Vic Hill Race Engine Super Late Model mounted an impressive charge to a podium finish.

Weiss was one of 53 entrants to kick off four-straight nights at the half-mile oval. Passing three cars in his heat race to grab the third and final transfer spot, Weiss locked into the 17th-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main.

Wheeling his way into a podium spot, Ricky improved 14 positions to register a third-place finish behind Jimmy Owens and Shane Clanton. Tim McCreadie and Hudson O’Neal rounded out the Top-5.

“I put the guys behind early in qualifying, but we were able to salvage a good night out of that. Coming from the back and finishing a top three, we’re happy with that,” Weiss said. “We got a good notebook here, and to be able to come from 17th to third in 50 laps just means we’re going forward. Hopefully we can maintain that pace and end up the winner again.”

The following night for the North/South Shootout, Ricky logged a sixth-place finish in his heat, sending him to the B-Main for another shot at making the A-Main. Coming in second behind Billy Moyer Jr., Weiss locked into the 21st-starting position for the feature. With $10,000 on the line, Ricky advanced eight spots to record a 13th place outing.

With a pair of passing points heat races on Friday setting the grid for Saturday’s North/South 100, Weiss jumped up one spot in his first heat to place eighth. After Mother Nature shifted the second round of heats to Saturday afternoon, Ricky came in third.

Failing to lock his spot into the finale via passing points, Weiss had one last shot at the $50,000-to-win North/South 100 with a B-Main appearance. Needing to place third or better, Ricky fell one spot short with a fourth-place outing.

Earning the pole the non-qualifiers race, Weiss salvaged a $2,000 payday with a flag-to-flag victory in the 30-lapper.
