Florence Speedway Thursday September 24th

Was kicking around the idea of hitting this unsanctioned 5k to win race then saw that Josh Rice is gonna be there so I'm gonna make my first trip to that track and hit Brownstown Friday on my way back home.

Hoping for some help here.

1. Is Union, KY on Eastern or Central time?

2. Their site says gates open at SIX and hot laps at 6:30. Can that be, they open the gates that late, 1/2 hour before racing?

3. Any idea what racers will be there? Hopin to see some TN guys like Marler or Chilton hit this race and do the 90 miles to Brownstown for Friday and Saturday.

4. Anything I should know about Florence Speedway as a first timer besides the track is awesome? Can you bring in a cooler, can you smoke?

florence speedway is on eastern time. i read the same thing about start times and hot laps, so i guess so. they say they are going to qualify. they will probably start right after that with it being a week night so as to get done as early as possible. that will probably not be before 730-8:00. this date was just moved to sept 24. i looked at about 6-7 different driver sites and no one had updated there schedule or were not coming to florence. i would guess there would be a few, but have no idea who. you can probably bring in a cooler. for lucas shows they don't allow coolers, but i don't think they consider this a big show where the stands are about filled. you can't bring in alcohol or glass. they do sell beer and there is a bar on the back stretch for liquor. you can smoke almost anywhere except turn 4 grandstands. there are no bad seats.

Is the seating general admission for a 5k race like this and can you sit on the backstretch?

If there's seating on the backstretch can you pay and enter from there?

Can you camp after this race?

Yes you can pay and enter from the backstretch and they always have room for primitive camping.

Take a few minutes to go through the DLM Hall of Fame. It's not very big, but it's filled with great stuff. I tour it every time I go there. Bring a camera.
