I might be in the area in a couple months on a job and get the chance to catch a race at this track. What kind of info can some of you that’s been there before give me about the place ?

Great location (easy to get to), friendly people, and if track is right good racing. Hopefully they get the classes sorted out, at times they tend to run late. They will be putting new dirt on, dust has not been an issue over the last couple of years so hopefully the new stuff is similar. Prices are in line with everyone else around here.

The fan view perspective from the backstretch hill is stellar.......one of the best.

Carolina Speedway is the closest I can think of (about 1.5 hours from Friendship, just outside Charlotte).

Ararat Thunder raceway is about 45min away in Ararat, Va and they run on Friday nights starting in April.

Speaking of that, friendship changed Josh Richards driving style completely a few years back.Maybe with Casey hopefully, but he still has his moments.

I still can’t figure out wth that was over. Twice he did him bad, and the second one was just plain dangerous. Not big on the fighting, but Casey had to do something. Josh left him no choice.

It’s not like they were in a point battle, or Casey was a huge Rocket supporter and left on bad terms, just made no sense.

Screven happened.....got to see it up close and personal.....the guy I was traveling with that year actually went to the jailhouse to bail out a crew member.....sat across from Josh and his wife in the same room while they bailed out theirs......it was awkward as I understand it.

But if we don't want this thread to disappear we probably shouldn't be talking about it.

To be fair neither should be defined by that moment when mentioned in the same sentence because both have done so much more individually on and off the track.

I forgot to ask about seating and coolers. Is it bleachers only or is it a place for a lawn chair ? Is small coolers allowed ?

Anybody know why they cancelled the Blue Ridge Late Model race on July 24 ? Seen it on the DoD schedule as cancelled and just curious.

I believe Blue Ridge got upset because of the FUEL series race this weekend (against the Blue Ridge at 311)....Shame the series can't figure out that there are not enough cars to continue to fight each other, only hurts the racers...And I do not know which series is in the 'wrong' on this occasion...

I miss running 311, haven't been in probably 7 years or so. Used to be one of my favorites, right behind Wythe.

It's about 4 hr one way for us.....but still used to love going, didn't miss too many of their big races for a good stretch.

311 is my local track as well, but pretty much gave up on it. I do plan to try it again tomorrow for the Blue ridge outlaws, plus $3000 to win 602 and 604 races, with heats. Should be fun if track operators don't ruin it.

What is rough is pulling an additional 3.5 hours past it to race for the same money because your a) not sure it will happen b) rules are different....
