Sad news this morning. Chargin' Charlie Glotzbach has passed away at the age of 82. He was found dead in his Jeffersonville, Indiana home.

Back in the mid 1990's we got to watch Charlie drive an ARCA car very late in his career after he'd been away from the NASCAR/ARCA for sometime.

RIP Chargin' Charlie........................

Never watched him, but I do remember his name. May he RIP, at least he lived a long life.

Chargin Charlie drove this car at Sottsburg Indiana, Browstown, and other tracks. I went to the Southern 100 at Portsmouth's old half miler back around 1980. When we got out of our parked car we walked by Charlies hauler on the pit road. The officials were arguing with Charlie and his crewman. They told him to not unload and leave. Something about the car didn't suit their rules, they said it was illegal. I have no reason why. They wasted no time in turning around and leaving.

Charlie was really tough at Scottsburg Indiana on dirt but was better know for his NASCAR and ARCA wins and top ten finishes.

I was fortunate to be in his pits at Daytona, when he drove a Floyd Garrett/Richard Childress Arca car back in the 90's. Floyd was a local businessman with extremely close ties to Childress and my cousins father-in-law. Floyd now owns the auto museum in Pigeon Forge.......RIP Charlie
