View Full Version : Plenty Of Gas In Alabama

At least in this state of Alabama, gas stations are open and have plenty of gas, don't believe the &@#$ in the media who are hyping the hack job of Colonial at least in Bama. Sure the prices went up 6 to 8 pennies. I passed about 50 gas stations today and stopped at 3 with my job, plenty of petrol, no lines, and plenty of supplies.

Not much in North Carolina. Lines here. Our governor should not have declared an emergency.

The always outrageous fuel prices out here on the left coast found still another excuse with the Colonial pipeline mess to go up again. That pipeline goes from Texas to the Eastern states and has nothing to do with California.

The Chevron station in the little jerkwater town about 4 miles from our home base was $4.499 for regular and $4.999 for the 91 octane a couple of days ago. They make their $ off the travelers to Reno or the ski areas that are too dumb to fill up down or up the hill where it's roughly $.90 cheaper. I'd tote my empty gas jugs 10 miles down the mountain before I'd patronize that joint.

Really looking forward to the several 2-500 mile trips with the 8 mpg hauler this summer. Might as well just dump the Sunoco 110 in it.

For some of us old enough to recall fuel shortages in the mid 70s this is a walk in the park. I don’t always like some of the results but it’s still the best system on earth.

They couldn't pass up an opportunity to throw rocks at trump still.....you know, Russia, collusion, grabbed them by the kitty and all of that.

Somehow this is trumps fault.....they will find the six degrees of separation that lead back to him some kind of way.

Colonial Pipeline Disruptions Stop Lucas Oil Late Model Doubleheader

BATAVIA, Ohio (May 12, 2021) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events scheduled for Friday, May 14 at 411 Motor Speedway and Saturday, May 15 at Talladega Short Track have been canceled.

The Colonial Pipeline is the largest pipeline system for refined oil products in the U.S. – stretching over 5,500 miles long between Texas and New York. A recent cyber-attack on the Colonial Pipeline halted 2.5 million barrels per day of fuel shipments.

As fuel shortages in the Southeast worsen as a result of the disruption, track and series officials have mutually agreed to cancel this weekend’s events. The events will not be made up.

“These are unfortunate circumstances beyond our control,” said Rick Schwallie, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Director. “These decisions are never easy, but we had to consider our fan base and those traveling hundreds of miles to attend these events.”

What media are you referring to? Every media outlet I see or hear, is telling people not to panic, there is no gas shortage, and there’s no reason for anyone to try to stock up. The only panic type behavior I see are idiots on Facebook. And not surprisingly, most of them have a lot in common with each other.

The Media telling people not to panic, there is no gas shortage, is the reason everybody went and bought up all the gas. If nothing was said and nobody watched the news like me, we would still have gas. Technology will eventually kill the world.

50 dixon...............There is no fuel because people with 3/4 of a tank decided to top off every morning while every other person was at work running on empty. If no one watched the news like I have not for the last 15 years, and went about their life normal, the fuel would have never run out.

That's not passive aggressive at all.

How does that work ? I have always been under the impression that you have to be laid off to draw unemployment. I didn't think someone who quit or was fired could draw unemployment.

Unemployment in my state is around $300 per week. A person could get by on that in 1990.

That one persons embellished opinion on a podcast doesn't erase the reality of what really happened........the podcast may be spot on, I don't know ....I haven't listened to it and probably won't.

It just drives home the fact that some people just like to listen to a podcast...view a tweet or Facebook post to be told what to do and how to think......I'm not one of those people even though I am pretty liberal as to who I will listen too and respect......dem, repub,independent....doesn't matter, if it's a good idea and will work for the country I call home then I'm in support of it.

I know my Mom quit her job at the age of 61 she just walked out and my Dad retired at 65 which was last year after the pandemic started and they dont owe on a home or cars as they bought new cars and paid cash and saved their money. I know alot of people 62 to 67 that retired do to the pandemic. Also I know alot of younger ones that once they got laid off they went for SSI for bad backs and other problems and got it. So one problem led to multiple and thats not including the ones that went and got new jobs in different sectors of the economy. At my Factory there are more people from the Food Sector and Retail Sector that have gotten jobs than ever before and there were alot of people that retired as well.

Well Bama is closer to the beginning of the pipeline, so your closer to the source. I'm in NE Georgia and back mid week we had fuel prior to the panic, then within 2 hrs of crazy I watched price jump $0.20 then $0.10 more the next day before running out. To me it would've been better had they just limited everyone to 10 gallons, but I don't run a gas station. We've since been restocked, but I got some yesterday and it was largely water... Luckily I was limited to 10 gallons of water, now. Spent this morning venturing over into Carolina to top off with hopefully better fuel and some seafoam to smooth out the skipping/stumbling. CCP-19 made people fearful and reactionary I suppose. I imagine this won't be the last supply chain shortage we deal with before we get D.C. straightened out. America First.

Some places here blocked off a few of their pumps just to reduce the flow. Some that ran out were because of panic buying and most likely the station was due for a shipment already so supply was already low. Majority if not all doesn't come from the pipeline. It comes off barges.

I have to laugh at the dope that Michigan has for a governor. Says she's going to seize profits from the Enbridge pipeline if they didn't shut it down at her deadline this past week. A private Canadian business. lol she's got so many blunders going her credibility for anything is at -0
