Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Concludes 2021 Miniseries with Holiday Tripleheader!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The 2021 edition of the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series will wrap up in a big way over the busy Memorial Day holiday weekend with a tripleheader from May 29-31 in the states of Georgia and Tennessee! Round seven of the miniseries will take the cars and stars racing with the Spring Nationals tour to Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday evening, May 29. The historic Atlanta-area facility will host a $4,053 to win program to kick off the weekend and $400 will be earmarked for each feature starter. Previous series winners at the D-shaped racetrack include Steve Casebolt ('13), Dale McDowell ('14), Donald McIntosh ('15), Mike Marlar ('16), Dale McDowell ('17 & '18), and Michael Page ('19).

A short trip to Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia will then greet the Spring Nationals competitors for a similar show on Sunday night, May 30. Another $4,053 top prize will be on the line at the “World’s Fastest 1/2-Mile Clay Track” and each starter in the main event will once again be guaranteed at least $400. This will mark the fifth Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series visit, as Casey Roberts ('15), Jonathan Davenport ('16), Dale McDowell ('17), and Donald McIntosh ('19) have each graced victory lane in the past at Rome Speedway.

The holiday weekend triple shot and the grand finale of the 2021 Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series schedule will then take place on Monday, May 31 at 411 Motor Speedway. The 9th Annual ‘Scott Sexton Memorial’ will be held on Memorial Day at the Seymour, Tennessee oval and a strong field of competitors is expected to vie for the $10,052 winner’s check. The lucrative race, which will be co-sanctioned by the Iron-Man Late Model Series and will honor one of east-Tennessee’s finest racers, will shell out at least $500 to each feature starter. Jimmy Owens captured the victory in the lone Spring Nationals race held so far at 411, as he won the 2019 edition of the ‘Scott Sexton Memorial’ over a stacked top five that included runner-up Brandon Overton, Ricky Weiss, Hudson O’Neal, and Kyle Strickler.

Jonathan Davenport (Tazewell Speedway), Brandon Overton (I-75 Raceway), David Payne (Tri-County Race Track), Dale McDowell (Crossville Speedway), Tanner English (Clarksville Speedway), and Jimmy Owens (Smoky Mountain Speedway) have already picked up wins with the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series during the 2021 campaign. A total of five drivers have perfect attendance so far, which keeps their hopes alive to pocket the $10,053 payday for claiming the Championship at 411. Currently, Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Dale McDowell has a twenty-eight point lead over two-time miniseries champion Donald McIntosh in the point chase with Cory Hedgec0ck, David Payne, and Stacy Boles rounding out the top five.
