Jeep Van Wormer Runner-Up in Visit to Oakshade; Starts Preparing for Double Dreams

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) Jeep Van Wormer and his Iron Motorsports team trekked to the Buckeye State on May 29-30 for a pair of American Late Model Series (ALMS) programs. On Saturday night at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio, Jeep moved up four spots in his heat race to finish third and later rolled off from the inside of the fifth row in the $2,000 to win headliner. The Pinconning, Michigan native then raced hard all over the top ten during the contest before making a late charge to the front. Jeep swapped a couple of sliders with Casey Noonan for the point in the waning laps and eventually landed in the runner-up position behind Noonan.

The dirt-slinging action quickly shifted to the hallowed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Sunday evening for the annual running of the 'Johnny Appleseed Classic.' Jeep debuted a brand-new Longhorn Chassis at the "Big E," where a $5,000 top prize was up for grabs. He timed in fourteenth quickest overall during the American Late Model Series qualifying session prior to placing fifth in his stacked heat race. After starting from the outside of the seventh row in the 30-lap main event, Jeep had climbed up inside of the top ten and was looking for more when he unfortunately suffered terminal mechanical problems, which dropped him to seventeenth in the final finishing order. Full results from both Memorial Day holiday weekend races can be viewed online at www.americanlatemodelseries.com.

Jeep and his #55 team will be busy in the shop this upcoming weekend (June 4-6) preparing for the rapidly approaching “Double Dreams” at Eldora Speedway. The 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant will host a pair of ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ races next week. Things will kick off next Wednesday with a pair of Twin 25s – each paying $10,000 to the winner – leading into Thursday’s 100-lapper that boasts a whopping $127,000 winner’s check. On Friday at the Rossburg, Ohio oval, two more $10,000 to win Twin 25’s will help set the stage for the second ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ on Saturday, which will shell out $126,000 to the victor.
