Dennis Erb, Jr. Heads North to Jackson Motorplex After Trio of Summer Nationals Top Tens

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing kicked off what will be a hectic month of July schedule with a quartet of DIRTcar Summer Nationals battles from July 1-4 in the states of Iowa and Illinois. Last Thursday night in a $5,000 to win shootout on the 1/4-mile oval at Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa, Dennis Erb, Jr. placed third in his heat race to earn the inside of the sixth row for the 40-lap main event. Dennis, who is a three-time "Hell Tour" Champion, vaulted all the way up to third in the running order before winding up sixth at the checkers behind only victor Bobby Pierce, Frank Heckenast, Jr., Brandon Sheppard, Tony Jackson, Jr., and Shannon Babb.

Following Davenport, the action shifted to the Land of Lincoln for three straight nights of racing action at the Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Joliet, Illinois, Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, Illinois, and Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois. On Friday in a $10,000 to win throwdown at the sprawling Joliet oval, Dennis won his heat race in preliminary action before slipping back to seventh in the final rundown of the 30-lapper.

In a similar $10,000 to win Summer Nationals clash on Saturday evening at Fayette County, Dennis placed third in his heat race, but was an early retiree in the 50-lap headliner and wound up being paid for an eighteenth place showing. A $5,000 top prize was then up for grabs on Sunday at Lincoln and the Carpentersville, Illinois ace ran second in his heat race and eighth in the 40-lap feature. The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series schedule heats back up this coming weekend (July 9-10) at the state-of-the-art Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota. Dennis, who currently sits fifth in the latest version of the national series point standings, will vie for the $10,000 winner’s check tomorrow night in the 40-lap opener of the Jackson doubleheader. On Saturday evening in the grand finale, a whopping $20,000 windfall will be on the line in a 50-lap headliner.
