Tanner English Ready for Week Five of Grueling Summer Nationals; Still Second in Points

(NORRIS CITY, ILLINOIS) Tanner English and Riggs Motorsports are about ready to embark on the start of the fifth week of the grueling DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. The #81e team will roll into the new Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana tonight to kick off four straight nights of racing action in the states of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. A $5,000 top prize will be on the line later tonight in Indy, as well as on Thursday, July 15 at Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Michigan.

Over the weekend, Tanner and the rest of the cars and stars racing with the “Hell Tour” will vie for $10,000 winner checks on Friday, July 16 at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Michigan and on Saturday, July 17 at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio. In the sixteen Summer Nationals shows that have escaped the wrath of Mother Nature so far this year, Tanner has been ultra-consistent in racking up one feature win, ten Top Five finishes, and fifteen Top Ten efforts. The Benton, Kentucky ace currently finds himself second in the latest series point standings – only 90 markers behind leader Bobby Pierce. Additional information on the four races this weekend can be accessed online at www.dirtcarsummernationals.com.

Joining Tanner in dirt-slinging action this week will be teammate Jack Riggs, who will return to competition on Saturday evening, July 17 at Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee. Jack will set his sights on the $600 payday in the Crate Late Model division at the Volunteer State oval. More information on the weekly show this Saturday at DRRP can be viewed by clicking on www.duckriverracewaypark.com.

Tanner and the #81e team were able to get four Summer Nationals events into the record book last week in a quartet of races in the Land of Lincoln. His best showing last week came on Tuesday, July 6 at the sprawling Knox County Fair Raceway in Knoxville, Illinois. Tanner toured the big 1/2-mile oval third quickest overall during time trials before securing a heat race triumph. The soon-to-be-father then ran in the third spot during each circuit of the 30-lap feature and eventually landed on the podium behind only victor Ashton Winger and runner-up Bobby Pierce!

In other action last week, Tanner wound up sixth on both Wednesday at Spoon River Speedway in Banner, Illinois and on Friday in a $10,000 to win shootout at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois. His worst performance of the tour unfortunately came on Thursday at the mighty Macon Speedway in Macon, Illinois during the 41st Annual ‘Herald & Review 100.’ Tanner ran second in his heat race, but was involved in a couple of cautions during the 100-lapper and eventually landed in the thirteenth finishing position.
