Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series Stop at Wythe Doomed by Forecast; Bulls Gap Next
(RURAL RETREAT, VIRGINIA) With the probability of rain today at Wythe Raceway and not wanting race haulers to get stuck in the infield pit area, track promoter Fred Brown has canceled tonight’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series stop at the Rural Retreat, Virginia facility. The $10,053 to win event, which was slated to be round two of the 12-race miniseries, will not be rescheduled. Please keep an eye on the Wythe Raceway social media pages and website for rain check information if you purchased your tickets for tonight’s race online.
The Southern Nationals tour will now turn their focus to Monday night’s visit to the high-banks of Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee. A $4,053 payday will be on the line on July 19 at “The Gap.” Previous series winners at the Volunteer State oval include: Jimmy Owens ('06 & '07), Tommy Kerr ('08 & '09), Jonathan Davenport ('10), Chris Madden ('11), Casey Roberts ('12), Vic Hill ('13), and Chris Madden ('20). The pit gates will open at 4:00pm on Monday, while the grandstands will start to allow patrons at 5:00pm. The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm with hot laps slated for 7:00pm.
