Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series Contest at Needmore Speedway Nixed by Rain

(NORMAN PARK, GEORGIA) Tonight’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series contest scheduled for Needmore Speedway was unfortunately canceled in the afternoon due to heavy thunderstorms at the Norman Park, Georgia facility. The $5,053 to win shootout will not be rescheduled, but we look forward to working with the track again during the course of the 2022 season.

With half of the Southern Nationals Series races rained out so far, the tour looks forward to much better and drier weather tomorrow, July 24 at Screven Motor Speedway. A $10,053 top prize will be on the line Saturday at the Sylvania, Georgia oval in the annual running of the ‘Rebel Yell.’ The marquee race, which pays $500 just to start, has been a mainstay on the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern National Series schedule since 2006 with past winners including: Henry Carter ('06), Jimmy Sharpe ('07), Dennis Franklin ('08 & '09), Casey Roberts ('10), Brent Dixon ('11), Mike Marlar ('12), Mother Nature ('13), Dennis Franklin ('14 & '15), Chris Ferguson ('16), Casey Roberts ('17), Mother Nature ('18), Ross Bailes ('19), Brandon Overton ('20). More information can be located online at www.screven-motorsports.com.

Wish we had that problem of rain in the western states. We've lost a few shows this season due to the fires that continue to decimate the parched west. I'd gladly miss a couple of races due to rain.
