Does anyone know if they are going to have the Gateway Dirt Nationals? I can't find anything on it... Way before this time in years past, there were announcements, information, sponsor, etc. talked about. ...just inquiring so I can start making plans.

Just a random question... Is there a pattern with all the events run under the same person? Everyone knows who I am talking about, I just don't want to appear like I am slandering him... Seems to me like all of the events / endeavors he has taken on start with a lot of support and promise and then end abruptly with very little explanation.

Definitely quiet on Social Media, but the date is still on the Stadium's calendar

If they were having it, you'd see advertisements by now. Like Bayko said, stick a fork in it.

Every project he's ever been a part of is an epic failure. It's not all bad luck.

Epic failure? The Gateway Dirt thing has been a huge success every year they've done it. And if it isn't done again that doesn't change the success that it had.

By what measurements was it a huge success? There is really only one that ensures future events. People don't stop doing things that make money.

I don’t think you can blame Cody for the city of St. Louis shutting down the event last year and most likely again this year. I’ve had a great time every year I attended the dome. Watching it on TV doesn’t do it justice.

^^^ I went the first year and enjoyed it much more than I did the last 2 years they had it watching it from home. I would go back again if things lined up to where I could go back.

Good racing and almost everyone I know who went there had a blast and would go back again.

I can't speak to the monetary side since I'm not privy to that information.

What he says and what actually happened are two entirely different things.

It's a real shame they are not going to run that 45 mph race.

with things being restricted in downtown St. Louis i would almost bet that it wont be happening this year cause covid. hopefully im wrong but the way things are going thats the likely thing to happen.

Unless things change for the worse hopefully STL will allow the event. Considering to the best of my knowledge MLB, and NFL are able to have events with fans in the stands.

There are a lot of indoor events starting to require vaccine. I'd say that hurts your fan count for a dirt track event.

Agreed. The fact teams bring a "junker", isn't good.

Its dirt track racing in December, its better than having no racing. And its usually still pretty entertaining.

The thieves in St. Louis are going to be disappointed. They steal a couple of pickup trucks and a trailer or two every year and if this thing doesn't happen they're year ending income will likely come in under expectations.

I checked with somebody that would know a couple weeks back and was told as of then it was still a go.

However lack of information and covid "supposedly" making a comeback I still have my doubts.

Uncle Sam hooked them up with extra cash this year to stay home and not work more than they already don’t work…....they should be good.

I applaud your concern for the well-being of gen-lazy….that’s pretty cool.

Alot of guys here who sure hate racing. According to Gordy Gundaker, the race is on. I heard it directly from him

We attended the prelim nights the first year this event was in existence. We enjoyed our experience but the cost to attend is a little high considering the product on display. We haven't attended since they began the midget invitational portion but it would seem that the track would be more conducive to entertaining racing by the smaller cars.

The Gateway promoter scheduled the midget invitational directly against an indoor midget show located less than 1 1/2 hours east of St. Louis and essentially killed that long standing pre-Christmas event and we were disappointed by it's demise.

The combination of the midgets, DLM's and mods appeals to a fairly wide spectrum of dirt race fan so it's good that it's going to resume after a year off.

As of 2020 St. Louis has the highest per capita murder rate of any city in America with a population of more that 100,000 and the overall crime rate is also near the top, so yeah, it's a bit of a $hithole!!

Every generation has their lazy POS’s and those that say back in my day. It’s every generation has turds. There’s no more or less than there was, just now there’s social media. A lot of the guys I like working with are in the 24-40ish range.

Personally talked to Cody at Eldora and he said Gateway is a go, however everyone will be wearing masks 100% of the time while your indoors.
