Why do they announce who was fastest in hot laps it means nothing. It doesn't equate to cash or a starting spot in a heat race so why?

The fans gave Huddy a standing ovation at Brownstown for winning hotlaps. Didn't really make sense to me since it didn't accomplish anything.

If you really need to be told why they discuss this while announcing the race then you apparently aren’t to bright.

I wish they would just use hot laps for qualifying in all races. Everybody on equal track. Give them 5 laps take fastest lap
