Well I didn’t get to watch all of the races but the ones I did....the track was very racy. Shout out to the track prep “engineers”. Well done boys. If other tracks took the time to figure out what makes that happen, you’d not have a problem putting butts in the seats.

Speaking of butts in the seats....doesn’t look like the attendance is all that stellar at Vado.

Not gonna agree or disagree. Golfing in Chandler and watching Chilli bowl on Flo at night. Next best thing to being there.

Many of the tracks in Arizona have historically struggled to stay open for years, crooked promoters/employees, low regular season fan/racers counts, the dreaded development thing, etc., etc. The weather in the winter is iffy and I've frozen my azz off many times there. Northern Nevada has been in the same situation for decades with the same problems.

Royal Jones builds a state of the art facility, is a long time racer himself, has a history of making things happen and is a very viable and stable probability of long term success. WWSO had a good run in AZ and there's no reason not to give New Mexico a shot with it. Although the car counts likely won't grow the coming week the attendance probably will, just as the AZ WWSO did.

Extra bonus for the AZ fans is there are different golf courses in Las Cruces and El Paso to try during the days and, if you have a passport, you can cross the border at El Paso and renew your prescriptions in Mexico and probably save enough right there to cover part of your travel nut.

There isn't enough of a slm following out west for them to have teams tow that far west. You need local talent to help fill fields and seats. Screven lost woo, facilities, in my eyes are a dump, but the track produces great racing. I personally think it would be a great place for them to go.

Ooof with Vado not being a vacation destination that Phoenix is, car count of 27 tonight. I sure hope they can make this event work. But gotta think this was a giant flop with cold temps and empty stands. I know with my travels I couldn’t wait to leave NM and get somewhere better. I would 10/10 times be traveling to Florida over NM every year. Unless I win powerball and hit the road for every race. Just such a bummer that the AZ Speedway had to close. Maybe Vegas works better?

Absolutely pathetic display of fan support in the stands.
There's a reason many big names didn't venture out this year.
The car count is almost as bad as the fan count.

Feel bad for Royal. But it’s almost never warm enuff in NM. I guess Tucson wasn’t good. Cocopah is almost California. I can’t figure out why they don't do it at this 3/8 on the NW side of Phoenix just off the 303? Good racing, reminds me of Farmer City - big arc backstretch w/o a wall. In Phx now. 70 and sunny all week.

I think Bobby has matured some these last few years, still dump flipping the bird but his post race interview was better than in the past for example when he told the fans he makes more money than them. Also less monster sliders from him last year, will see if that trend continues. Not a Bobby fan or hater, just an observation.

I have a Rodney Sanders question.

Is he just making laps and pulling off in those late model features to concentrate on his mod program? First night he was 12th, second night scratched, next three nights he was one of the first retirees in the late models. Yet in the mods he's making serious tracks. I believe the first two nights were 6th/5th and then three straight wins. Is someone there who knows what is going on (car, engine, just testing things, what)? I like following Rodney Sanders racing so I'm kind of interested. Serious non-speculation please.

Also, attaboy to Thomas Hunzicker. I got to meet him and talk to him for a good long visit last year at Cedar Lake. He's a really super nice guy who is living his dream and his program is getting incrementally better. Not a force to threaten the top dogs but it is really nice to see him getting into the features and having some good runs for his level of program. If anyone ever gets the chance to go meet and talk Thomas, you'll really like him. A rock climber from Switzerland who loves F1 racing living his dream as a dirt late model driver. Good dude.

Here for the finale and the track is looking great in hot laps again. Would expect another outstanding night of racing. Staying in El Paso is great. Tons to do and it’s only 30 min straight shot on I-10 from our hotel. Las Cruces even closer (like 20 min). I know it’s a little bit cooler than AZ but I’ve been to colder nights at Volusia than it was here last night and I don’t know what there is to do there that there isn’t here. Hiking, golf, food joints, etc. Maybe I’m sounding like a Vado apologist to everyone angry that it’s not in AZ but just been incredibly impressed by everything I’m seeing here.

Came down for Saturday and Today. Conservatively I’d say that place can sit 2,500 people? Not including suites. I’d say it was 1/3rd full maybe more, the suites seemed to be full. After watching all week, there were a lot more people there than I expected, not empty by any means. Late models just aren’t a big deal in NM, definitely more open wheel and sprints. I’ll be interested to see what the crowd is for WoO sprints in March.

A light crowd is an understatement, however Ben and DJ like to brag about the 1000s of us watching on Flo. Thats where the money is these days. WHOLESALE money! Wowza!!

Why would anyone go to Vado? Tuscon is 4 hours away and you can only eat so many tacos before you are bored out of your mind. Now lets compare this to East Bay for 5 days, heck yea!

I would think if you are looking for something to build on for the future that Vado is not the answer but nobody asked me for my advice when they were planning.

I’ve been to East Bay many times and know that area well (and will be down for the last 2 Lucas races this year) Both places are fun to visit and have phenomenal racing. Vado is a gem and East Bay is a dump (still love it though). Anyway, El Paso/Las Cruces have anything the Tampa area has to offer IMO. Been to Phx. Not for races but I still don’t see what’s missing other than tons of levels people have their RV’s parked there.
