Been thinking about the 5th and 6th coil and wondering what the point of having a 6th coil let the pinion angle wrap beyond the initial 6-7 degrees at ride height. Why not just have a hard stop with a soft spring so that it stays preloaded at all times? Most cars we’ve had are setup without any bump in the 6th coil and droop below “center” under hard braking….our MB customs being the only one that had a bump setup. I understand that you get some amount of side to side movement due to the j bar being in front of the axle centerline but is it really that beneficial to let the car wrap over center under decel? Seems like a car would be more consistent with a soft 6th coil…let’s say 200…with a hard bump stop and the 5th is just preloaded into it all the way until it hits the bump at ride height. 7-ish pinion angle. Any advantages to be gained or look elsewhere.

Your car will be looser on entry with an abrupt stop to downward rotation of the lift bar. One would think never completely unloading the lift bar would have other benefits though. I wouldn't discourage you from trying your idea.

Hoffmans mod setup seems to be working along those lines!
