DMI has their own stuff, a 75-90w synthetic. Looks like Winters recommends 70-90, semi or full synthetic.

Winters and dmi both have some proprietary stuff.i think they are equal in quality. I've seen people run just about every gear lube you could imagine without much consequence but you are technically supposed to run lube designed for a hypoid ring and pinion setup their are lube that are not rated for hypoid use

I always liked either Gibbs or Schaffers. I was told once, by a guy who built rear ends for NASCAR, that the most important aspect is to keep it clean and change it often.

Over the years we've tried about everything from the cheapos to outrageous and, like jking says, seen little difference. We have almost always run the hypoid r&p stuff and have generally settled on the Stalube 80-90 we get at NAPA for a cheap for now-a-days price. Been our go to for around 25 years now.
