Things that make me shake my head....

THE ELDORA MILLION ($1,318,285 posted) Winner gets a whopping 77% of the purse..

DIRT LATE MODEL DREAM ($304,165 posted) Winner gets 33% of the purse

Both races pay the same basic money to start even though the Million pays 10 times more to win

If you win the Dream you make $28,000 more than 2nd place in the Million, again a race that pays 10 times more to win!

2nd in the Dream pays the same as 4th in the Million

10th in the Million pays $7,000, the same as running 8th in the Dream

I am sure the Eldora nut-huggers and "I think its awesome someone will win a Million" folks will hammer me on this but this just shows everything that wrong with the LM Dolly Parton Payouts.

If you are standing by the water cooler on Monday it sounds just as cool saying X Driver won $500k at a dirt race than it does saying they won a Million. Spread that money back to help keep these racers going down the road, whats left of them!

A couple things I’ve noticed from drivers regarding the million.

1.) They’re skipping out on other big races because they have to be ready for the million.

2.) There’s talk among drivers that if they win the million, they won’t race the dream.

Problems I see with that is only 1 driver is going to win the million, a driver is skipping out on multiple 20,000+ to win races close to home because they want to be ready for the million. I get it, but also you’re losing money not racing those other events. What’s the attitude going to be after you run 15th at the million and you skipped multiple big events before it?

Why would you not run the dream after winning the million? The track will probably be near the same all weekend, we’ve seen Overton and others dominate entire weekends before. A driver is going to turn down the second biggest race of the season?? Weird times.

Granted the purse spread for the Million is top heavy with 2nd getting "only" $100,000 but the original million show that Donnie Moran won paid 2nd place $50,000 and that guy wasn't disappointed and was the largest purse he ever received.

I agree with ya Dirty-White-Boy.

Guess it depends on what you're after. A lot seem to be obsessed with large car counts. You change this to $500,000 to win and spread out the other through the field with higher pay, then I think you see a larger car count then what you'll get for the Million to win. Heck, you could even pay a decent $5,000 to win purse for a non qualifying race.

On the other hand, it is cool to see a driver win $1 million race. Technically it's more then the last million to win so a true highest winning purse ever. Maybe not as many cars overall but will still attract the best in the world and still start the same in the A-main at the end of the day. Probably higher chance of better racing with not as many cars turning as many laps on the track. Either way, still be the same 7-8 drivers with a realistic chance to win but hey, maybe this is the year a true long shot takes the checkered flag. Rich Strike did pull it off in the Derby.

This X 2
I doubt their are any racers complaining. Never understood why someone cares about someone else's income.🙄

I would've done quit supporting races by now if I had been complaining about top heavy purses as long as DWB has. It's not like this is anything new.

Some people are never happy as was said. It also is certain there are some race fans that don't understand the million to win this race concept. This race is not a purse spreader event.

To be clear, my post above has nothing to do the purse structure. I have no problem with it. Just my thoughts on drivers logic surrounding the million.

Changing the purse for events like these will only gain field fillers, not cars capable of winning the event or most likely making the A. I for one don't care about car counts anymore, that doesn't gauge the success of an event like it used to.

Until there is an industry wide pushback from the owners (not fans) for more evenly distributed purses, it wont change.

If it were up to me, lower the winners share to $500,000. Use the $500,000 the winner doesn’t get to reward 2-24 about $20,000 each, making it 25,000 to start. You still have $40,000 left over.

No offense but you do not understand the million dollar to win concept that i referred to in my other post. You are suggesting a race and payout that doesn't exist.

While your suggestion may well be valid for annual events, it doesn't apply to this race. At this point this race is a one off million to win. Million being the reason for this race to exist.

No offense, but disagreeing with a concept and not understanding it are two very different things. Of course he's suggesting a race that doesn't exist. That's why he led with the word if.

It's pretty obvious what the concept here is. Race for an unheard of 1st place purse and have your name etched in the history books forever at the hollow grounds that are Eldora. Super cool deal. Nothing wrong with someone suggesting with what they would do instead though. This is an opinion board.

There are like 10 potential winners. The rest are field fillers.

The original million was just 900k added to the standard Dream winner’s purse. They just did the sane thing this time. I don’t know what anybody expected.
