Conley’s Grab Top Fives in Boone Coleman Gator 50 at Portsmouth; World 100 Next

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) The Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) teams invaded the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on September 1-2 for a pair of high-profile events. On Friday night in the unsanctioned ‘Boone Coleman Memorial Gator 50,’ R.J. Conley placed fourth in his heat race, but later blasted from seventh to take the lead late in the 50-lap contest. At the checkers, R.J. finished a close runner-up behind only $10,000 winner Ricky Thornton, Jr. His brother Rod Conley was hot on their tails in placing fourth at the checkered flag after a third place run in his heat race.

At PRP on Saturday evening, a $15,000 top prize was up for grabs in the annual ‘River Days Rumble 50,’ which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Rod placed second in his stacked heat race and ran inside of the top five early in the 50-lap feature before slipping back to twelfth at the finish. R.J., on the other hand, ran sixth in his heat race, fourth in his B-Main, and ninth in the 50-lapper after starting the race from the outside of the tenth row.

Rod and his #71R team then tackled the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Sunday, September 3. The annual running of the ‘Baltes Classic’ took center stage at the “Big E” and a $5,000 winner’s check was on the line. Rod started and finished sixth in his heat race prior to picking up a victory in his B-Main. After rolling off from the outside of the eleventh row in the 30-lap main event, “Hot Rod” was able to steer past a handful of competitors en route to a seventeenth place performance. Complete results from each of these races can be found online at www.portsraceway.com and www.eldoraspeedway.com.

Both Conley Motorsports, Inc. (CMI) drivers are currently in the pit area at Eldora Speedway for the 53rd Annual ‘World 100.’ A pair of split-field, $12,000 to win prelim features will be held both tonight and on Friday at the 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant. Six heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap ‘World 100’ headliner will then take place at the Rossburg, Ohio oval on Saturday, September 9. Rod and R.J. will both have their sights set on the whopping $56,000 first place prize money.
