Calling one of the nicest facilities in the country a dump for a problem he and his team literally created. What a crybaby. Maybe it’s time he stay home on his dumpy ranch.

“ Knoxville not a dump, and I never slice” …..In my best judge schmells voice.

I don’t understand all the hate from the sprint car guys /fans to where they won’t come to watch…..sprints aren’t my thing so much but I do like to see them come to my local track occasionally.
A good race is just a dam good race, no matter what’s above the 4 wheels imo.

Wouldn't want to be relying on JD merch sales at Knoxville for my living expenses. It really comes off hypocritical for him to whine about the aero push so bad since virtually of his major event success has occurred in the aero push era that really seemed to get bad right around mid 2010's when he paired up with Rumley.

Knoxville is a so-so to terrible track for everything but winged sprint cars. It’s definitely not a dump. It’s a fantastic facility.

And the cars keep getting more aero focused to the detriment of drivability. There’s that.

Oh yea, he's just an average driver, but with special gadgetry he does pretty well. He can't seem to stay off the wall without help of some sort on his car. I wouldn't call him a clown tho. Unless you're talking about him saying k-ville is a dump. Lol, that was pretty fummy! Lolsdm!

Never been a fan of Knoxville for a DLM race, but its hallowed ground for outlaw sprints and I respect that. Having a driver make negative comments after eating the wall pretty hard is pretty common place in my experience and not worth making a fuss over. I'm personally not a fan of aero dependent race cars of any type, but its where the powers that be have led the sport in superb ignorance. They've ignored history and logic in favor of short term gains and creating long term loss because like it or not the number of DLM's in competition through out the country is in decline. I hope one day they'll address the elephant in the room, but just like the Great Reset BS, it will moist likely be far too late and too much damage will have been done. Enjoy the next level, she won't be around long.

Cancer is often a slow death. When you go to your local track and they don't have late models anymore, that's blood in your stool.

You feel fine because you went to Eldora and they had 90 cars.

5-10 years ago, we were still getting full fields of cars at all of the surrounding tracks in our area. Now we are lucky to get half of that when we run supers every two weeks. Prp used to average 25-30 cars just for a weekly race, even with atomic racing the same night and drawing 20 cars, and the track only being 40mins apart. They both do good to get 20 now on opposite weekends.

Id be lying if I said I wasn't concerned.

The economy has something to do about lower car counts. Inflation has driven up the price of most everything.

In the last 2 or 3 years sure. Dlm have far outpaced inflation and have been disappearing way faster. When was the last time a track in Georgia had weekly super late models?

JD doesn't like the gumbo at knoxville. The surface is like no other, when the sprints cars run they create 2 grooves. 1 on the berm and 1 on the top, with them having 3 divisions of them and getting close to 90 cars weekly the track usually doesn't come around until feature time. 90 cars compared to 40, there's your difference why the track surface stays the way it is. That black dirt has proven it can beat the heck out of all challengers. I doubt JD was callin the facilities a dump, I think he was referring to the surface. Them boys like red clay, not black silt.

We all know Knoxville is not a dump. If fact it’s a premier track. JD screwed up and got in the wall coming off 4. He then finished it off in turn 1. To blame aero is BS. As far as I know he’s the only car with “aero” issues. I like sprint cars and LM equally. Knoxville is usually a 2 groove racetrack that produces great racing. JD is butt hurt by being slapped around by RHJ and Pierce this year. Aside from Eldora JD is ordinary. I was a fan. I’ll look elsewhere now.

Nobody likes red clay. It’s pretty to look at, but doesn’t make for a great racing surface.

There also weren't 4 or 5 classes of late models 15 or 20 years ago. If we took away all of the crate classes in the country I'd bet car counts would stabilize some at weekly shows. Maybe not everywhere, but it would definitely boost the numbers overall.
No one brings up the weak economy when Boone, Iowa gets over 1,000 cars for the Supernationals. They are even planning to build a clone track to accommodate all of the fans and cars. There are record crowds all over for regional and national shows. Nary a word about the weak economy then. It's only mentioned when it's convenient. Maybe weekly shows are suffering because a lot of weekly shows stink.

if you took away all of the crate classes, they mostly would move to mods or sport mods or out altogether. lates are pricing them selfs out of business. what weekly shows??? most tracks have dropped lates because they couldn't even get enough to make a good heat, let alone feature. who will your national tours race against in a few years when there are no local cars that will show up??

I'd say there are at least a couple hundred crate late models between Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama. If crates went away some of those cars would absolutely turn into supers. I'm not saying 75% or even 50%, but they wouldn't all drop a class or get out.

Wait Dixie/Rome still do, but they took last year off for Martha's cancer and passing. Besides them I don't know of any others left in the state. Lauren's was the last weekly Super track I knew of in SC and they quit about the same time as Toccoa. Its difficult to watch something I've loved and been a part of so long, be courting death like a drug addict denying the whole way they have an issue tha'ts killing them.
