It makes the distance the shock mount travels greater for a given birdcage rotation. So, essentially, it alters the wheel rate.

Rubber is harder, the lower the temperature. It also loses elasticity. Obviously, it's going to warm up pretty quickly once it hits the track.

Screven is underrated as a track. The surface can hold up pretty well and the one end, 1&2, IIRC, is a bit technical.
