What would be the advantage of running a rearend housing with the center section offset 2" to the left?
Let's the upper link be adjusted 2" further to the left, driveshaft moves over also so it is still inline with upper link per the rules. A few guys are doing it and winning.
Bmod rules say driveshaft and pullbar must be inline when viewed from above.
Never said it was for a Bmod. Could be talking Open mods. Assuming vrbka7v rules are like most open modified rules. The Pullbar does not need to be inline with the driveshaft.
Its for a northern sport mod so the pullbar does have to be in line with the driveshaft. What affect would having the pull bar 2" further to the left on the rear end have?
It loads the LR tire a little more than the RR under throttle
The guy I bought my chassis said he had one in it. He said it gave him more drive off the corners.
If you offset the pinion to the left but not the engine and the pullbar has to be centered over the driveshaft wouldn't that mean the pullbar would not be square with the centerline of the chassis? I would think this could make the car inconsistent unless I'm missing something.
The main issue is the increased indexing of the lr birdcage. Basically, you are shortening the effective length of the upper left trailing arm, thereby increasing the load on the lr. Although not as drastic, you could just space the trailing arm away from the birdcage.
Northern Sport Mods do not use birdcages. It's solid three link car.
Correct. No indexing. The whole rearend rotates a little that's it. In my area the cars with this are quite a bit faster.
Gotcha.....still some slight indexing into the spring depending on where its mounted.
