It seemed like all of the flats were right rear
When i was down there in June, i was amazed at the amount of rocks that were laying on and in the surface. I would say that is the culprit.
Have that put new clay on the track.
No new Clay- but a lot of gravel in the outer pits. I was there last night & can’t remember that many flats in the past. The track officials did survey the surface during a caution looking for a potential culprit.
It seems like there were a lot of flats at the Lucas Oil race last year. That's how Buckingham ended up winning. Alot flats ahead of him.
Yes there was-(but I was happy for Shannon!)
Could be tire compound -tire prep- air pressure maybe. That right rear tire takes some abuse going into the high banks & sharp turns.
There was new dirt put down at the beginning of the year, both times I have been there this year, I noticed the amount of rocks in the track as well. Gravel pits getting pulled from the upper pits are only adding to it. The racing has been better than previous years but the amount of flats, hasn't been good.
My bad- didn’t realize they put new Clay down- sorry!
Putting gravel in pits sounds like a risky thing to do. Some of it winds up on the track.
I read on another site that all of the flat tires were due to not having any air in them.
