Combs and Smith Capture 2nd Annual Big Daddy Classic Victories at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY – June 10, 2017 – Ponderosa Speedway would present the 2nd Annual Big Daddy Classic on Saturday evening and Chris Combs of Isom, KY would claim the $3,088 payday for the Schaeffer’s Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series and Keith Smith of Stanton, KY would pick up the $1,288 payday for the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series, while Victor Lee of Danville, KY would score the $1,288 victory in the Pro (Crate) Late Model division. Other feature winners included Eddie Stewart of Manchester, KY in KDRA Super Stocks, Jeremie Bretz of Maysville, KY in Stock Four Cylinders, and Dylan Rutherford of Corbin, KY in Mini-Cup/Cyclones.

Victor Lee would take command of the Schaeffer’s Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series main event and would lead for the first seventeen laps of the event before loose bodywork would start rubbing a rear tire and slow his progress, allowing Tripp Gerrald to take the race lead on lap eighteen prior to a caution for a spin by Jerry Gibson III slowing the action. The restart would then see Chris Combs, who passed Lee for second prior to the caution flag, get a run on Gerrald and take the race lead and hold on to score the victory, with Gerrald finishing second and Lee settling for third. James Williamson and Tommy Bailey would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be John Whitney, Levi Ashby, Jeff Neubert, Joey Standridge, and Doug Smith.

Victor Lee would lead the first twenty laps of the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series main event before seventh place starting Keith Smith would drive past Lee on lap twenty-one of the contest and drive on the race win. Lee would finish in the second position, while Jimmy Payne would claim the third position. J.T. Ayers and Blake Brown would round out the top five finishers. Completing the top ten would be Mikah Reams, Cy Cundiff, David Webb, Shon Flanary, and Jamie Mosley.

The Pro (Crate) Late Model portion of the program would see Victor Lee lead all twenty-five laps and score the victory. Jeff Watson would lay claim to runner-up honors in the event, while Zane Powell would score a third-place finish. The remainder of the finishing order would be Austin Burns, Jake Henry, Derek Bottoms, and Timmy Taylor.

Eddie Stewart would lead flag-to-flag to score the victory in the KDRA Super Stock feature contest, with James Crowe finishing in the second position and Tyler Collis completing the podium finishers in third. Bartley Grant and Robby Perkins would round out the top five finishers. The remainder of the top ten would be Chris Blanton, Greg Hensley, Corey Lewis, Clarence Belcher, and Scott Hensley.

The Stock Four Cylinder main event would see Jeremie Bretz take the lead in the early going of the twelve lap feature event for the division and claim the victory. Tyler Hayes would finish in second, while Brandon Creech would claim a third-place finish. Fourth and fifth positions would go to Brian Moore and Matthew Craddock respectively. Rounding out the top ten finishers would be Kyle Willoughby, Tyler Phipps, Ashley Logan, Josh Hammond, and Dave Driggers.

Dylan Rutherford would score his second consecutive Mini-Cup/Cyclone feature event win by taking the victory over teammate Blake Brown. The remainder of the finishing order would be Felicia Patterson, Jason Hinkle, Jr., and Jason Hinkle.
