When should the crankshaft be changed in a 2.3 ford ? I have heard they should be changed after each year of racing. Have one that has 10 races on it. It was new last year when installed.

depends on the rpm
there are a lot of factors.
is the crank lightened? is your rotating assembly balanced? how many rpm's are you turning?
i use a stock weight crank with a fully balanced rotating assembly and turn 7,500-7,800 running 24-30 races a year.
crank has 4 seasons on it and is still in good shape.
good machine work is key .
i agree 100% exfordtech , i have never really seen a well balanced crank break , usually oil related failure.....BTW , we found the merkur turbo cranks are practically indestructible......
The best time to change a crank is after it starts to crack but before it breaks. lol. I inspect crankshafts after every season. The engine I run has 65 races on the crank over the course of 3 seasons (stock crank only slightly lightened but well balanced). Asphalt 3/8 and 4/10 mile tracks spinning 8500 rpms. Good machine work and attention to detail equals long life and less money in the long run.
